Loved the quaint little town and the shops, restaurants and pubs available to us. Also, the grocery store was very well stocked and the SPAR there had laundry facilities that we so badly needed to use.

A beautiful area in the National Park.
A beautiful area in the National Park. The little town centre was quite vibrant for such a remote area and lots of independent cafes and shops It was possible to do manageable walks (even for us oldies)

Cliftden was great with plenty of places to eat and drink.
Cliftden was great with plenty of places to eat and drink. There is a very well stocked supermarket in the town and the surroundings were very clean and well maintained. Getting a local taxi was a bit of a problem so we had to drive everywhere, which didn't allow us to have a drink in the town as our accommadation was about 3 miles outside the village.
The Ardagh Hotel is exceptional its such a homely relaxed and fantastic experience. From the lovely greeting you get with even the kettle been put on for us to the gorgeous meal in the restaurant to the fabulous breakfast the next morning. The scenic views are excellent and the lovely Bruce the dog made is very special. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely we will be back.
Receptionist (didn't catch her name) on Friday evening who arranged an additional night's stay (despite the hotel being full) for my two rooms was super helpful and very pleasant to deal with, great attitude.

My wife and I were in Ireland for 11 days, each day a different lodging. Ardagh was by far the best of the lot. I know the rating only goes to 10, but this place is in a league of its own....a 20 as far as I am concerned. Friendly staff, wonderful location, great breakfast, clean. Sadly we did not get to eat dinner as we had other commitments.
Absolutely fabulous hotel, extremely clean, comfortable and so quiet. It is located in the beautiful Clifden town, close to the most stunning places in Connemara. The hotel has wonderful, professional and so friendly staff. Breakfast is wonderful, fresh and served by a lovely staff. I highly recommend Hawthorn Lodge!
We loved everything about this place, especially Federique whose kindness and hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment she opened the door. Clifden Bay Lodge was clean, modern and our room a fair size with a brilliantly comfortable bed - the best couple of nights sleep in our road trip of Ireland.
The hotel has wonderful decor and super friendly staff. It is in a wonderful location, right in the very village centre. The room was really spacious and comfortable. It was great being able to listen to live music in the bar. Clifden area has a lot to offer, with amazing sites and super, scenic drives.

Outstanding hotel. The staff, amenities, food and location are a dream. In one day I walked the "Clifden Castle" ate delicious Sole, listened to live music and saw a pristine Irish beach. This is a very special place.
We stayed in BnB's almost exclusively during our 2 weeks in Ireland and the Buttermilk was hands down the best of all. The room was lovely, breakfast out of this world and easy walk to town.
The breakfast was awesome. A nice menu with many selections to choose from. The location is perfect to explore Clifden. The leisure facility is one of the best.
