Very nice couple managing the hotel, with a lot to do in and around the hotel, and marvelous lake.
Large room, with bathroom, and other shared Japanese baths (could not really use them, as arrived at 7 PM, and on busy week end, so we all occupied).
The owner could pick us up at the local bus station, drive us back, and even drove us to nearby restaurant! So helpful.
Have a few bicycles for cycling around the lake.

Our room was fantastic we had a great view of Mt. Fuji. The onsen was very relaxing after a day of walking. The bed was very comfortable and had very nice duvet, I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning.

We did not have time to explore the town at all, but overall seemed like a beautiful place by the lake. Would highly recommend because I think this place is less mobbed by tourists that Fujikawaguchiko.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.
This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around.
Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun!
I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish.
Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting!
I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.
It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there.
There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds and the skyline around the mountain were in a constant dance of change - breathtaking. The reflections of the sunset clouds on the lake were were dazzling. The freshness of the pristine air. The lack of high humidity. The sense of well-being offered by the area. The vehicles stopped at zebra crossings which isn't always the case in certain cities.
Cons - At times we have to walk on the road within half a metre of passing vehicles. That could have possible unwanted outcomes.

Yamanashi in general was gorgeous.
Yamanashi in general was gorgeous. We stayed at Yamanakako and it was a great place to stay at to get away from the stressful work environment in the city. We didn't get to eat at any local restaurants since we were too busy exploring the surrounding areas but you won't be left wanting for food options since everywhere you go, there's a restaurant nearby and they all looked so good. I think it would be more convenient if you travel around by car since the bus fare can get a little expensive if you're traveling far.
Everything was wonderful. Properly were surrounded by beautiful black pines and Mt Fuji was visible from my room. The owner Tomoki was an excellent host. He drove more than half an hour to go get me at the far away bus station and at Mt. Fuji station because the bus stopped service. He even gave me a very good quality umbrella after taking me to bus stop. He also arranged all the transactions necessary for me to arrive at Kusatsu safely on time. Hope that my health will permit me to come back and stay longer Domo Aligato Tomoki Shan.
The location is ideal since it's so close to the Yamanakako-Mt Fuij bus stop and is right by the lake. The hosts have an amazing collection of sightseeing guides, maps, restaurant recommendations, and more. They're also so kind and willing to help with any travel plans you might have. The shared lounge is open 24/7, and the guesthouse itself is cozy and charming. The shared bathrooms and my room were very clean, and they honored my request for a top bunk.
Yamanakako is a very small and sleepy town. It’s fit for travelers that are looking to escape city sounds and immerse in the woods. Teiensaryo was a very pleasant stay with incredible food. The place is family run by three generations. It’s also a 5 minute walk from the bus terminal and lake. The host are very accommodating and will drop you off wherever you need to get you to your next destination.
It’s is a lovely hotel, which is run by a lovely couple.
The rooms are very comfortable with nice air conditioning in the hot summer.
The hotel is taking great COVID-19 protection measures and the bathroom facilities are booked on demand individually. A nice touch!
It’s located about a five minute walk to scenic Lake Yamanakako and it’s nearby restaurants.
An totally amazing place to stay. My family really enjoyed the stay, facilities, cleanliness, staffs and Mt Fuji view. The staffs were very friendly and helpful, and they can explain things really well in English. The room is very clean, super spacious, with private onsen! I want to give them 100 out of 10. Definitely the first choice to stay in Mt Fuji area.
We love everything here. The room is small as Japanese standard but well-thought of amenities in the room. The woman on check-in is very helpful and enthusiastic but modest at the same time. The hotel manager is too cute!
The location is perfect, close to the lake and also can walk to 7-11 and the bus stop easily.
This is a quiet and elegant hotel,
It has a unique Japanese style, and the boss is kind and friendly. If time permits, a good soak in the bath can make the tiredness of the day disappear.
Quite close to the lake, you can quickly see the beautiful and dreamy Mount Fuji.
Looking forward to visiting again~
Everything!! The owner is amazing and so sweet i can't wait to come back. The location is perfect, just a short walk away from the path that goes around the lake. The bath was the most relaxing I have ever had. Waking up to the view of Fuji-san in the distance was a dream come true.
beautiful view, hotel is a little bit high in altitude so we were able to see Mount Fuji when the city was still in the fog, view from the room was great and Fuji san was sooo incredible. breakfast was really nice, hotel staff very helpful and professional. spa are amazing !!!
It is within walking distance to the Mishima Yamanakako Express bus stop. Right next to a convenience store. Few restaurants nearby covering all varieties of food like coffee, icecream, noodle, sushi sort of Japan cuisines and western ones.
Room overlooking the lake.
Stayed 2 nights to hike Mt Fuji in one day. The onsen was nice and we had a scheduled slot for just our group so I didn't have to worry about my tattoos. The woman running the place didn't speak much English but was very nice and helpful.
We had the most wonderful stay. The house was beautiful and we loved the scent of wood inside. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking and dining ware. A good place to stay if you are travelling with family and seeing Mt Fuji.
Lovely hotel in a pretty area. Bicycles were great for riding around the lake. Owner was very helpful booking our bus for the next day and organising a taxi for us to the bus stop. Great place to view Mount Fuji.
Comfortable good size room with spectacular room. Beds comfortable, spectacular view, we were lucky enough to get a view of Mt Fuji before the clouds rolled in. Clean and friendly staff. Good facilities
Highly recommend! It's definitely a hidden treasure among all hotels and b&bs. Gorgeous view of 🍁 and Fujisan. The hot spring in this hotel adds great extra value and comfy to your trip.
