Bala is a very lively town at the weekend with lots of pubs on the high street. The locals are friendly. There are some small local businesses on the high street. The lake is beautiful and has lots of water sports.

Bala is incredibly beautiful, as you would expect in the heart of North Wales. There is a spectacular Lake with a delightful steam railway running alongside. Bala centre has lovely pubs and antique shops, as well as plenty of space to roam around.

Bala lake itself is obviously the main attraction and that was well visited when we were there but there was plenty of car parking to access along with excellent options for access to the lake from various car parks on both sides of the lake. You could even take a ride on the steam train and get off at an excellent bay in which to canoe, swim, paddle and enjoy a full family day at leisure.

The town has everything that you'd need & the surrounding countryside is beautiful with some easy walks & some for the more adventurous. Water sports, walking & cycling are the main activities on offer & if you're happy with those combined with easy-going restful evenings then you'll love Bala.

I stayed for one night during a three-day cycling tour. Beautiful country around.
White Lion Royal Hotel is a good place to stay, especially if you need an early start, as it serves breakfast early. It also serves excellent pub food - though the kitchen closed early this day, so I missed out.
There are several other places to eat along the High Street, including pizza places and an Indian restaurant.

Disappointed of the town not a bit like we expected. Two nights we ate in a small Bistro just two doors from the hotel, the food was excellent and very friendly staff and service .
It was called Cyfnod Cafe and Bistro.
The room was a good size and both comfy and clean. There was a good choice for breakfast and the Welsh breakfast was delicious. However, the choice of bread slightly let the meals down, although this is only a small point and more feedback to the hotel, rather than detracting from the overall quality of our stay. Finally the hotel is situated n the middle of Bala, so everything within a short stroll. We had two evening meals in the hotel, which were both fabulous, especially the Sunday lunch.
The property is located in a veautiful Bala valley. With amazing river view. Caravan is a 6 person capacity with 4 single beds and one double. Good size toilet and shower. Sitting space is also very spacious and comphy to gather around the dinning table. There is Tv, VCR recorder, dryer everything you need out of home.
the host was very pleasant and would deffinatly recomend the stay.
Staff were amazing. So friendly and amusing but also 100% professional. Our waiter Robert was a highlight of the stay, he had us in stitches.
Food in the restaurant was incredible, one of the best meals I’ve ever had with great (and interesting) wine choice. Room was clean and comfortable. Love the fact the hotel is run on hydro power!
Amazing location.
Bala is a very quiet town, in the middle of a beautiful area and sitting right next to a lake. There were plenty of wonderful local places to eat, and the pastry shop right around the corner was exceptional. The manager provided very easy and clear directions on where to park, and the house had everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable.
Quiet, cosy caravan. Old fashioned but that is not an issue at all. It is clean, warm (plenty of heat sources) and has excellent wifi. Kitchen is adequately kitted out too. Pub just outside the farm gates and Bala a short drive. Proportions are small, but if you expect something different, don't book a caravan:-)
Beautiful setting. Balcony overlooking lake was great. Moonrise over lake was gorgeous. Apartment was very clean and comfortable. Several good pubs and restaurants in Bala and easy access to grocery store. And Beatrice was exceptionally helpful and pleasant to interact with.
The hotel is very old so had lots of original features. The room was spacious, it had a nice bathroom with a really good powerful shower. The high street has many pubs and a few restaurants and is very lively on a weekend. The breakfast at the hotel was very good.
We liked the location of the hotel to use as a base to see a little bit of North Wales. The staff in the hotel were excellent. Those we met were all very young. They stuck to Covid regulations and the hotel was very clean if a little dated.
Everything was what you need for holiday, great location, amazing views, private back garden, well equipped kitchen, lovely patio area, close to town and Bala lake. 1hr drive from Snowdonia summit.
I enjoyed the place, nice and cozy, wonderful people, highly recommend for vacation in Bala - Welsh, to roaming around in Snowdonia National Park and wonderful lakes, outstanding service!
Great location in the centre of Bala, very comfortable, great Queen size beds, lovely dining room and a comfortable lounge with a log burner that we used extensively.
