The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. Location is great, right in Nara park. Staff was helpful and understanding of the language barrier. Let us drop our bags off early before check-in. Great food and service for both supper and breakfast. Nice big room for the two of us. They were nice enough to order our taxi for us the morning we left so we didn't have to worry about hiking back to the train (or bus) station.

An Asian breakfast is available daily at the ryokan. There is a coffee shop, and packed lunches are also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The location was picturesque and overall incredibly pleasant to look around at. The property itself is very well maintained, truly delivers the classic ryokan experience, onsen are amazing and very enjoyable, the staff was wonderful and incredibly helpful. The meals are the best of our whole trip in Japan. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is nested by the creek yet right across the street from the bus stop. The location is perfect. The host gave us a ride to the nearby public Onsen and gave us a tour to the Tenkawa Daibenziten-Sha Shrine, where the Emperor of the Southern Court had lived around 700 years ago. We took a less than two-hour scenic hike to the Dorogawa Onsen village, and 25 minutes bus back. Loved their private bath which includes both indoor and outdoor tubs all to yourself but needs to book with the host.

Staying in Kasuga Hotel gave us a deeper experience of Japan. This is the first Ryokan type hotel we stayed in. The onsen is amazing and the breakfast is excellent.
Dorogawa is a great place to visit. I thought the ryokan was lovely and onsen baths relaxing. The staff were all nice and helpful. Breakfast was also enjoyable with a filling Japanese style breakfast.
The atmosphere in this hotel is great - staff & guests all enjoying themselves. The onsen is fabulous with outdoor and indoor pools open till late, with typical Dormy Inn free noodles at 9:30pm and free ice creams after your onsen. The interior decor emphasises traditional Japanese with tatami mats and blossoms on each floor. We parked our hire car and had the excitement of the car lift too.
Onsen and facilities were great. Loved the tatami floors..no shoes all through hotel was very nice.
The onsen is spectacular and is worth a stay for that alone. In addition, the tatami throughout the building adds a great relaxing vibe to the hotel. Our room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The hotel is well decorated and breakfast is excellent (although expensive at 2300 yen per person). Staff were friendly and helpful. This is a great place to base a Nara trip. I would return in a heartbeat.
The room was fantastic. It was huge, especially by Japanese standards. The location was great, short bus ride from the main JR station and walking distance to the other station with connections to Osaka and Kyoto. The onsen was lovely with an open air pool. Very clean. The room had all the amenities you’d need, including Yukata and slippers as well as decent toiletries. There was a separate bath and toilet in a very large bathroom with a separate dressing area
This place was exactly what I was looking for. A quiet ryokan with a private tattoo-friendly onsen. My room was big and the futon was very comfy. I appreciated the complimentary water and a kettle to make tea. Everything was so good, thank you! I will definitely come back.
My son and I loved this ryokan. We had previously paid $300 per night at a ryonkan of similar standard in Kyoto and this was almost as much value for a much lower price. The room was huge. The location was the best we'd had during our stay as it is right near the food market and main part of town. The staff were so lovely. The Onsen was wonderful although I recommend getting there soon after 5pm when it is filled as it cools down quickly. The futons and pillows were too hard for us but that is just personal preference.
- almost everything - this hotel is directly at the beginning of the nara deer park. deer are literaly just outside your window. - stunning view at koufuku-ji temple - onsen directly in the hotel - nice staff - wonderfull tradinional room with tatami, futons and yukata - spotlessly clean - price - I would stay here again and I regret that I stayed only one night. I really enjoyed the evening, part of which I spent in my room
