You hear the Volcano and can see the glow at night! We had the opportunity to sleep in the bungalow with a direct view to the Volcano from the bed, the tree house was also amazing with a nice breeze at night PLUS there is a toilet at the top! Really cool and handy at night. From the village we could see the river and dense forest, Mike, family is really welcoming and they will always ensure you are happy and enjoy your stay. Sam was driving us up and down to town and the Volcano, he is a very skilled driver!! Lena and her daughters cooked dinner and ensured we felt comfortable at all times. I will definitely recommend Castle tree house to anyone that wants to experience the village life. We stayed for three nights and highly enjoyed it. TIP: We were not sure if we could get to the Volcano entrance by foot. But you definitely can, it takes about 1h.15min (15 min drive)

The hospitality of Philip, Susan and their sons was absolutely incredible. They were so gracious with their time without being over bearing on your privacy. This is the spot to stay when checking out the volcano side of Tanna. You will have everything you need to see the vanuatu culture from the perfect location. For reasonable rates, the hosts will take care of any other logistic you need. -Set up the 2 hour car ride to and from the airport. -Local recipe dinners by Susan and she’s a great cook. I believe they offered lunch as well but I was going on these great adventures they offer to guide you through: -A local village that will show you dances and rituals of their indigenous culture -A hot spring heated river that flows into the ocean overlooking the volcano -And of course, the hike to the rim of the volcano. I had so much time to chat with the family and they are all so kind. I don’t leave reviews, I was very compelled on this one. Stay in this treehouse. Friendly reminder to grab cash and break it down in Port Vila or at the market in Tanna.

Complimentary Airport Transfers. Please advise the Resort of your flight details in advance. The resort is situated on the coast directly in front of an amazing coral reef with easy access from the resorts private jetty. The on site dive shop provides masks, snorkel and fins if required. The resort is 5 minutes drive from the airport and 10 minutes from town. Breakfast included is continental style (bread/toast, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee) with cooked breakfast available at an extra charge. All the food at White Grass is delicious., breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is always fresh and tasty. Lots of variety to cater for all tastes. We stayed in a sea view bungalow. It was awesome. it had private ensuite, large comfy bed, very clean, balcony/veranda for sitting out listening to the ocean with an afternoon drink. My wife and I both had massages at the spa from Mary and loved them. All the staff are extremely helpful and cannot do enough for you. They can organise all trips for you from reception, we did the volcano trip, which is highly recommended.

The attention to detail in everything from the guest interactions, the room, the food and the resort itself. I spent three days in this gorgeous place, not only doing the Tanna Island top sights (Mt Yasur volcano, Blue Cave, traditional village tour and the Giant Banyan tree), but simply spending time around the resort by the pool with a book or snorkelling off the front cliffs. Silvana and John are absolutely beautiful hosts with their care and attention for the experience of your own and other guests with the island and Vanuatu as a whole.

As we were travelling on a budget and keen to meet the locals Alofa Beach bungalows was the perfect balance of comfort and friendly hospitality. Simple, relaxing and authentic looking bungalows with ensuite, running water and hot showers. The host were lovely and ready to help with whatever we needed. The food was nice. Pancakes for breakfast :) The bungalows are near a long stretch of coral strewn beach typical of Vanuatu and close to the local village. Perfect alternative to the resorts if you're after a more authentic experience.
