Hotel Lara's Planet offers pet-friendly accommodation in El Castillo de La Concepción. The hotel has a barbecue and sun terrace, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. We loved this hotel. Natasha was an angel.Her staff were friendly and helpful. Her rooms were huge, airy, clean, and comfortable. The balcony was a great place for watching the sunset. Breakfast consisted of lots of fruit, eggs, toast, and delicious rice pancakes. Natasha went out of her way to help organize our journey back to Leon. ❤️

Guacimo lodge sits in 40 hectare primary forest property situated close to El Castillo and Indio Maiz biosphere reserve. It features river view bungalows, a large rancho, a yoga deck and a pool. We had an excellent stay in Guacimo. The place itself is beautiful and the facilities were excellent, however it was the staff and excursions that made the trip so special. Manuel had been so helpful corresponding with us before the stay about the logistics of arriving at Guacimo. Our boat from San Carlos was full by the time we arrived and so Guacimo helped by sending their boat to collect us, without which we'd have been stuck for the night in San Carlos. They helped us arrange to see everything that we wanted to whilst there and gave us some great advice on where to go in Nicaragua after our stay at Guacimo. Gustavo was a brilliant guide and taught us so much about the local history & wildlife. Franklin was there to help with any and all queries we had and was great with helping us arrange our onward journey and Margarita cooked us the most wonderful food!

The hotel had secure parking for our two motorbikes. For a fee they let us park our bikes there for an evening while we did an overnight excursion up river.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel de Campo is located in Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve in Alajuela. Free WiFi access is available in this property in limited areas. The food was delicious. They put a lot of effort to source their food from their own gardens and have a small farm to provide this food for guests. The beds are comfortable and clean. There is a troupe of spider monkeys that visited every day because of all the fruit trees they have planted on the grounds and there is a lot of birdlife everywhere. Most of all we enjoyed our boat tour organised by the hotel. This took us down the caño negro river where we saw many caiman, Jabiru storks, turtles, and even a very rare striated heron.The hotel staff and owners are friendly and welcoming. Great location close to the river and easy to explore the area.The bird life is exceptional and the guides very knowledgeable. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and the meals delicious.

Great accommodation in Cano Negro. Family who run it is really nice and helpful, there were no problem with anything. The accommodation is really nice, it sits in a large garden which is connected to small lagoon. It is clean, has coffee maker (which is important for me:). Next to the Poponjoche is restaurante Fogon, which has the best meal I ate during our month in Costa Rica. We are birdwatchers so wanted to take the tour on lagoons. We did our search in the village and than decided to take son of owner of Poponjoche as guide since he can speak english. His father who is good bird guide went also with us. We were happy we choose them. Beware, there is NO BUS from Cano Negro to Upala or Los Chiles on Sunday!!! And taxi can get really expensive on this day.
