Santiago szigetén, az óceánnal szemben található a Pestana Tropico Ocean & City Hotel épülete, melytől csupán 200 méterre húzódik a város fő strandja. The reception staff were amazing, so helpful, so friendly they couldn’t do enough for us. A perfect start to any stay in any hotel. A real credit to the team there.

Set in Tarrafal, Santiago region, Hotel Viajante is located 400 metres from Mar di Baxu Beach. This 3-star hotel offers free WiFi. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The location is perfect, right on the main square and 3 mins by foot from the beach. The rooms are actually way nicer than in the pictures. Very cute place. Nice buffet breakfast as well.

Splanada poilon features a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Assomada. The hotel is pretty new (about 2 years old), modern and well designed. It was designed by Hamilton, the owner, who worked 19 years in France. Therefore he can speak french, which can be useful if you do not speak Portuguese or English. Hamilton is really nice and very helpful. He picked us up at Praia ship port, the way to Assomada, is about 40 mn. He also accepted that we keep a room later on the last day as our flight was late. One of his employee drove us to the airport (at a correct price). The hotel has a swimming pool ( cleaned daily), Wifi in the lounge (soon repeaters will be installed), electricity is by solar panels. The restaurant is really good! The rooms are huge, modern with all comfort. Showers with hot water and good pressure! Moreover, the biggest tree of Cabo Verde is at 10 mn by walking ( you see it from the terraces) and City center is only at 15 mn by walking. The staff is also very nice, the cleaning women do not stop! It is very family friendly.

Facing the beachfront, Oasis Tarrafal Alfandega Suites offers 4-star accommodation in Tarrafal and has a terrace, restaurant and bar. Location (staff especially Leonardo and Adeile), clean and well appointed rooms, great balcony and views, and wonderful breakfast!

Set in Cidade Velha, around 1km from the city centre, Pousada Villa Concetta boasts a furnished terrace a sea view. Pousada Villa Concetta gives guests direct access to the sea. Villa Concetta is an amazing experience, if you like the ocean and the culture of Cape Verde go there and enjoy the time with Bruno, his friends and the atmosphere in a traditional village. Breakfast is simply great and location is one of the most colorful in Santiago. Rooms are clean, the view from the patio is great and there are superb restaurants nearby. Highly recommend.

Set in Tarrafal, Vista Mar features a terrace, bar, on-site dining, and free WiFi throughout the property. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom. Everything was perfect food costumer service location to relax next to the beach and very clean. 10/10

Located in Praia, Quinta Da Montanha offers a restaurant. The apartment will provide you with a terrace. Featuring a bath, private bathroom also comes with a bidet and free toiletries. We had an amazing stay! Quinta da Montanha always feels like home. A piece of heaven on earth!

Boasting a terrace and a bar, Chez Maria Julia Boutique Hotel is situated in Praia, 600 metres from Cova Figueira Beach and 1.1 km from Praia de Quebra Canela. After 2 weeks on Santiago this is the only place I genuinely would recommend. First of all, the location. The famous Plateau is good only for a very short visit. This area is much nicer, safer, more relaxed. There are a lot of beautiful and colorful houses around, as well as many really nice restaurants / bars and the central beach (which is really good!) - all within 15 min walk max. The owner of the hotel really pays attention to every single detail. The staff is not just friendly, they are also very professional and truly understand what does it mean to work in HoReCa (which is rarely the case on Santiago unfortunately!) My stay was super comfortable and I appreciated that everyone was going above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and relaxed. I was very touched when I didn’t feel too well and the owner made sure to constantly check on me and provide me with everything and anything needed. The restaurant and bar by the hotel are very nice as well, overall it felt like a very fair value for money and I wish I’d make this place my main base during my trip.
