I have been to Bunratty castle and folk park many times and I’m equally delighted with the experience every time I return. The park itself is a wonderful charming glimpse into Irish history/culture and exploring the castle itself is outstanding!. My daughters and I love staying overnight nearby so we can enjoy the outstanding medieval dinner show in the evening in the actual banquet room of the castle. (Note that you can only explore the entire castle during the day, the dinner experience is limited to the two main rooms)This park is easily accessible by using public transportation as the bus stops right in front of the castle. It’s only a 10 minute ride from Shannon airport so this is a great way to start or end your visit to Ireland.

The Castle is something of a rabbit warren of staircases and corridors, and we inadvertantly missed on of the best bits by exiting before we'd seen it all! The Folk Park was very interesting and enjoyable, but choose a dry day (as we did) as it wouldn't be so much fun traipsing around in the rain. We were there on a weekday in May, but can imagine it gets very busy - it's the first stop for the coach parties of Americans flying in to Shannon.
