The hotel has a renowned Chef & Brewer restaurant, as well as meeting facilities for up to 14 people. Breakfast on each morning was excellent. Our lady server was so nice, friendly & very helpful. We chose to eat there each evening of our stay, dinner was also lovely, as were the staff. Bar was lovely & relaxing. No complaints over all. Lovely walks around the area also to enjoy

Upon reading some of the reviews, I was quite skeptical to book the room, especially as I was traveling with a 5 year old kid. But for 44 pounds, I thought we could try it and if we didn’t like it, we could just get to another hotel. The hotel met my expectation just fine. The check-in process was a breeze. The lady who checks you in is very kind and understanding (unlike some of the bad reviews). She gave us a room with 3 beds as I had a child with me; we chatted a little bit and she was definitely the HIGHLIGHT of our stay. She has been with the hotel for a decade and is an extremely kind and knowledgeable manager. The hotel and the rooms are old but very clean. The linen, the towels and the room was spotless. We had hot water; a kettle with tea and coffee. Plugs are not in perfect places but keep in mind its an old building. The location is right in town center; 5 mins walk to a Waitrose and 10mins walk to the train station. I had absolutely nothing to complain about. Keep your expectations aligned with the reality that it’s an old hotel and you will be fine.

Comfortable with good atmosphere, bed very comfortable and room a good size. Staff very pleasant, parking available but not guaranteed. Excellent location for those that want to explore the centre of St Albans on foot. Didn't have breakfast but restaurant area for dining looked very nice.

The lady who prepared our room went above and beyond. She really took the time to make sure we felt looked after. The pub was closed for an event for a few hours and she even came down to make sure we weren't hungry and offered us to have some food made up especially. I wish I'd asked her name as it's rare to get service like that these days! Beautiful room and location too. We will certainly be staying again!
