A family run business who make you feel warm and welcome from the time you book until you leave. The location is perfect as a base for exploring the local area. I feel I have to mention the very high standard of food. Its not the run of the mill bar food here. Its food fitting of a Manor house. I only wish we had stayed longer to try everything on the menu. All very reasonably priced as well. Real ale behind the bar and an open log fire. Large selection of drinks and food all day and the breakfast was spot on. Whether you are looking for a place to stay or after a meal with a proper local feel then you won't be let down if you give the Manor House a try. Well worth a visit.

Set in Castle Eden, 2.3 km from Crimdon Beach, The Ship inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant. The ship inn's location/accommodation/gardens and breakfast was excellent, couldn't ask for nicer,such welcoming hosts my wife and I felt like we were part of the furniture and most certainly will be coming back again 😃

Set in Durham and within 20 km of Beamish Museum, The City Hotel has a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. Extremely surprised by the cleanliness and upkeep of accommodation at a pub. Very modern accommodation with excellent soundproofing

Located in Chester-le-Street, The Lambton Worm offers en-suite bed-and-breakfast accommodation with free on-site private parking. My partner and I stay here for 7 nights, and I cannot fault it at all, clean room, lovely breakfast, we also ate in the restaurant the food was very tasty and not that pricey, all the staff were lovely and extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome, as did the locals, I’ve never visited a place where the people are so friendly. There is a real sense of community in this place, and it reminded me of my hometown. We both slept like babies every night, the bed was really comfortable This place is a little gem, right in the middle of the places we wanted to explore, Beamish 8 mins away, Whitley Bay 30 mins drive, Holy Island 1hr 30 mins, Newcastle 38 mins on the bus, the bus stop is directly outside the pub, catch the number 21 bus price was £5.10 return. We spent nearly every night in the pub, and you could see how well it was run, so big shout out the manager and all the staff. They were on the ball, tables cleared and wiped down straight away, they worked as a team like clockwork. We thoroughly enjoy are stay here and it was lovely to meet everyone.

Situated 5 minutes’ drive from the County Durham coastline, The Seaton Lane Inn - The Inn Collection Group features free on-site parking and is just over 10 miles from Durham city centre. The staff was excellent - professional and friendly!!

The Derwent Arms has a garden, shared lounge, a restaurant and bar in Edmondbyers. Boasting a concierge service, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. We loved our stay here . They could not do enough for us . The rooms were really comfortable. They even prepared a Gluten free breakfast . The staff were really friendly and helpful and breakfast lovely . Would not hesitate in recommending as a place to stay .

Located in Durham, within 20 km of Beamish Museum and 24 km of Stadium of Light, Victoria inn provides accommodation with a bar and free WiFi throughout the property as well as free private parking... We stayed for two nights at the Victoria Inn and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. Michael and his colleagues were incredibly helpful and attentive. We arrived before check-in, but they still ensured that the room was available, which was a lovely room on the first floor. The inn itself is about 4 minutes walk from the cathedral and castle, and about 7 minutes from the city centre.
