Each morning, Pension de Wadvaarder serves a breakfast buffet prepared with local products. If sunny, the backyard garden terrace is also available for breakfast. For dinner, there a few restaurants within walking distance in the centre of Midsland.

Upon arriving at Pension de Wadvaarder (through the back gate), you’ll enter into a cozy living room and dinning area. Gerrit & Annemieke have a great sense of style and it shows throughout the property, including the garden. The bedroom was spacious and had a small reading room with books (in Dutch). For breakfast you are provided a checklist of items to choose from which are then freshly assembled for you in the morning. The items are excellent quality, some derived from Terschelling (cheese, cranberry compote, eggs…) - lekker! The pension is close to the village center and bus stop. Hikes on the dike, in the forrest, on the dunes, and beach are easily manageable. Of course you can also bike if you want to move around faster and farther.

The location was great since it’s just a few-minute walk from the bus stop and Midsland town centre. The breakfast was good and the hosts are friendly. Although there are a lot of people coming and going and although the house is quite old, you can tell that they do their very best to keep the pension clean, tidy, and homely. The top room in the attic felt a bit short on space because of the slanted roof, but there was plenty of nice storage space, so it doesn’t feel cluttered.
