My husband and I and two daughters recently purchased the Whaler's Cottage and are totally in love with our new holiday home. We have already made so many awesome memories there and we hope that if you book the cottage you will experience the tranquil secluded atmosphere of the place and like us, will never want to leave! Everyone is so friendly here and you can't drive past without a wave from locals

From the cottage, and through the walking track down to Whangaparapara Road, explore the many DOC walking trails, nearby Kauri Falls, soak in the natural hot springs or visit the historic whaling station and saw mill remains. There are kayaks for rent at the wharf and it’s also just a short walk along to Great Barrier Lodge for lunch/dinner. Claris is 15 min drive to the airport and there is a general store, bottle shop, My Fat Puku cafe, fresh fish, the best hamburgers and a bakery (cash only) but they do awesome donuts. Medlands Beach is a further five minutes away with a fantastic beach.
