Ivorytowers Accommodation is situated opposite Westland National Park rainforest and mountains, just a 4-minute walk from Fox Glacier Village. Everything was spotless, the bed was comfy and we had a great night.

Surrounded by rainforest and mountains, Chateau Backpackers & Motels offers an outdoor fire pit, BBQ facilities. Chris the manager + receptionist of Chateau Backpackers & Motels is just a GREAT HOST! Efficient, kind, generous and prompt to help us with all we needed. We sincerely appreciate his promptness to send us per post on his own costs a super important object (professional working badge) we forgot in our room at the Chateau when leaving to our following accommodation in Queenstown. Definitely awesome!!! We shall certainly come back to Franz Josef when again in New Zealand and we shall reserve once more with Chateau Backpackers & Motels! Located in Punakaiki, 1 km from Punakaiki Scenic Attraction, Punakaiki Beach Hostel has a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi is available. Punakaiki Beach Hostel has a private room called the Sunset Cottage that sits apart from the hostel and is a lovely little cottage that has a small garden with flowers, a view of the ocean, and beach access within steps. It is very close to the Pancake Rocks, but right down on the beach. The scenery is beautiful! The unit has a small refrigerator, dishes and flatware, glasses, tea cups and mugs, and an actual teapot, tea leaves, and a tea ball, which made this tea lover very happy. There is a funky, but charming table and chairs on the front porch for enjoying a supper while watching the sunset. If you want to cook, there is a well equipped kitchen in the hostel. We highly recommend this spot!

Just 900 metres from Grey River, a popular swimming spot, Brunnerton Lodge and Backpackers offers free Wi-Fi and free bicycle rental. Great room. Loads of space for en suite bathroom and kitchen plus bedroom all in one area. Well equipped and clean with good facilities. Outside area comfortable with loads of chairs to relax. Chickens roaming. Loads of carpark area. Location is good, just outside Greymouth, local old mine memorial just down the road. River access close by as well. John the owner was lovely and anxious to please everyone and meet us all. Would recommend.

Tripinn YHA is the only Westport Hostel without a party bus so you will enjoy a good nights sleep. Just 3 minutes’ walk from Westport main street, Tripinn Hostel Backpackers YHA. Very cool historical building. The hostel is very well organized, great big kitchen. The son of the owner was in charge the days we stayed in the hostel, he was a very kind/great guy! He was super helpful and gave us great recommendations.
