The host was really cool and we could tell he is a very welcoming and warm-hearted soul. We appreciated the cleanliness and organization of the place. We really enjoyed the sauna and hot tub that felt brand new. It is also a convenient 10-minute walk to the beach! The host took some memorable pictures of us, which we also really appreciate. This is a special place ran by a genuine, down-to-earth host. Thank you G-Sun for creating a lovely Wakayama experience!

Hiroko and Kazu were delightful, friendly and very accommodating. We loved staying here at the start and end of our journey, it felt like a home away from home :) Very clean, spacious and comfy rooms, bathrooms and kitchen area were exceptionally clean and maintained. Great location for exploring the area as well.

It's very clean & good place to stay for Solo Travelers. They have Japanese style dorms equipped with a refrigerator, table chair & Aircon. Washroom is common but I found it always clean. They have a small kitchen where they have oven & electric cattle. The owner is very nice, humble, respectful & helpful. Before coming to hostel he also messaged me about one event happening at the same night. He itself traveled so he knows what a traveler actually need. They have charging points, a bed light & small locker inside the dorm cabin. So feel free to choose to stay here :) I came here for a day & stayed for 3 nights. Also the neighborhood has so many Japanese style bar so enjoy 😉

You can get food, cake and the local craft beer here. The rooms are on the 4th and 5th floor of the building, but there is an elevator. There is secure luggage storage if you want to leave it before you check in or after you check out. The staff are friendly and speak English. They also provide detailed information about what is available in the local area, including a public bath that they can give you a discount ticket for.

Luckily, I was able to find Surf G-Inn which turned out to be a great experience. The host, Takaji, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. He gave me some great suggestions around the area and was kind enough to drop me off to the port for me to catch my ferry. They were cheerful, polite, efficient, helpful (it seems they could anticipate one’s queries!) knowledgeable and patient. On-site laundry facilities - good to have especially when one is moving from city to city (travelling light with minimal clothing etc). It’s location is great for our purpose - though a little away from the main train station and city centre - of having some peace and quiet. It’s located right next to Wakayama Castle - nice walking paths.
