Centrally located but quiet, helpful English-speaking staff (the *only* place in China where I could actually communicate in English rather than using a translation app!). Very quick WeChat responses to questions. Would definitely recommend (or return myself).

We chose Xilu Xiao Xie Inn based on excellent reviews and its convenient location in the old town. The free ride from the train station was a thoughtful touch, and the warm welcome set a positive tone. The service, led by Joye, Cassie, Jade, and Chi Yuen, exceeded our expectations, tailoring our experience to our preferences. Despite booking a family room, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a deluxe room at no extra cost. The autonomous guesthouse with voice-controlled rooms added a unique and enjoyable aspect to our stay. The amenities were comprehensive, and the shower's water pressure was satisfying. The bed struck the right balance between comfort and firmness. Overall, Xilu Xiao Xie Inn provided a memorable and delightful stay, showcasing impeccable service and attention to detail. Highly recommended!

It was right in the middle of old town, but far away from the bars and restaurants so quite quiet, right next to a stream so felt like staying in nature to some extent. Had our own private courtyard though didn’t use much as spent most of the time outside wandering. Owner was super nice and gave us tips about restaurants to try (and to avoid as tourist traps).

Excellent boarding choice in Bai shao. The room is cozy and comfortable with a nice court yard. The hosts are friendly. However, it's regrettable that the host wouldn't serve breakfast any more. Otherwise, having breakfast in the court yard would be a nice experience.

I travelled to Lijiang Old Town with a Chinese friend. The location was very good, close to an entrance gate of the old town, simultaneously it is close to many restaurant and shops. The room was clean and comfortable, a good quality internet is available. The staff, the owners, was very welcoming and helpful. The owner was open to share with the (Pu-er) tea culture of Yunnan province, and invited many times us to be part of a traditional tea ceremony, which was fascinating. As I travelled with a Chinese friend, I did not have any difficulty for communication. One may need to communicate using a translator, or the owners' daughter(kid) may help to be understood.

Great looking authentic Naxi style house, yet room is very large, modern and comfortable. Top location a few minutes walk away from Shuhe old town. Hosts are a model of helpfulness, and genuinely nice people. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple nights with Johnson and Carol. Bonus: cute kid and dog to play with :)
