We enjoyed our visit to Barstow very much.
We enjoyed our visit to Barstow very much. Exciting to drive a short section of the famous Route 66. The highlight of our visit was the historic Harvey House, which has an amazing and interesting story related to Fred Harvey, who came up with the idea of providing quality places for train-riders to stay and eat beginning in the late 1800’s. This Harvey House is home to three must-see museums/centers: Route 66 Mother Road Museum, Western America Railroad Museum, and NASA Goldstone Deep Space Visitors Center. All are free of charge, but welcome donations. Visiting hours are shorter and some are weekends only. So check before going. A bonus activity is watching the trains passing by, which happens multiple times in an hour.

Barstow was a great stopover for us after having flown to LA from Australia, en route to Las Vegas. It was a pleasant town, easy to walk around, safe, and had a great Route 66 museum for car enthusiasts.
Panda Express was a great takeaway option for a meal.

We were travelling from the Pacific Grove area back to Phoenix. Going thru Barstow was GREAT. Missed all that BS Los Angeles traffic! And the expressways were in decent shape and not too busy! If I ever go back to the SF area I'll use the Barstow route. Stayed at the Quality Inn (a surprisingly good experience.)

The city is full of beautifull wall paintings and things...
The city is full of beautifull wall paintings and things that remind you the historic root 66. Everything was like stuck in the past that gave you the feeling of diving into the history of the city. On the other hand, the city seemed a little abandomed. People walking around were not the friendliest looking I have ever seen...
The hotel was clean. We were on the third floor, and the elevator was fast and clean. Our bed was comfortable and the room had an extra chair that was comfortable. We watched Thursday night NFL football. We ordered meals from a local pizza company but we were so far away from the pizza establishment that we had to use door-dash instead of the delivery driver from the pizza company. However, our food arrived hot and delicious. We didn't know that this location was a few miles west of the main town of Barstow.
Easy access from highway - very convenient access to local restaurants and services (and shopping). Beautiful hotel, well laid out. Great breakfast - very nice selections. We stayed at this hotel twice (outbound and return trip) and it was the best of 3 "residential" type hotels we stayed at. Staff was very helpful and professional. Clean. Really really clean. I highly recommend this Home2 Suites (Barstow).
Upon arrival we were greeted by the front desk employee who was very courteous and friendly, put us up in a nice room and explained breakfast hours for the next morning., the breakfast was the best I’ve seen at any hotel, plenty of choices and super clean, you knew immediately that the hostess really cared about the service she provided!
This is just what it says, a typical motel style bed for the night. Basic, limited facilities, but you get what you pay for and you know what to expect. The fun part is the collection of old cars and other Route 66 memorabilia which make this motel just a bit more funky than the others in Barstow. It’s nothing special but no complaints.
The Rodeway Inn was an older hotel that has been completely remodeled. The beds were excellent,. The room was fresh and clean. The complementary breakfast was very good. The hotel was a great place to say overnight or spend a couple of days. I would stay there again the next time I passed through Barstow.
If you are looking for an affordable hotel in Barstow, this is definitely a good value for the money. The things I liked: Very good heater as it gets very cold in the winter, and a decent sized refrigerator for food. A functional microwave and the bed was comfortable.
We had two stays within two weeks, first stay was horrible, expensive, room old, breakfast horrible. But! Our most recent stay we got a great room, and the breakfast egg omelette, bacon etc was great.
Even though the hotel is being refurbished, it was ok.
Nicely located in Barstow- and easy to find when we where driving from LA to Vegas. We where met by two service minded lady`s in the reception. The room was spacious with two big beds, aircon, free wifi, a VERY cold fridge, iron, ironing board etc.
It was a great stay, bed was great, water was hard as heck but it's Barstow. The Dollar store around the side sells water by the gallon. Very nice people in the town and hotel, great stop on a late start to Vegas.
I've stayed before. 5yrs ago. It's a good safe spot. Still a bit dated but everything you need is here. Great restaurant down the hill in another hotel. Gas and snacks are close. Staff super friendly.
That's a good motel for barstow. The room was far from the road so I couldn't hear the noises. The reception was very nice offering me water. Very good quality for the price
Very old hotel, very hot in the rooms, ACs are very noisy, you won't get any sleep.Hindu owner was very unpleasant in tge morning, she ignored my complains
