To be honest, as an accomodation it was pretty average. But the surroundings, not least for a person interested in history. When booking the room, I didn't realise that it was *so* close to the old convent. Nor did I realise it was so close to lake Vättern (just outside the door) and I sorely regretted not bringing my swimsuit.
The staff on site was also brilliant.

Vadstena is special to me because it was the home of Saint Birgitta of Sweden, it is a beautiful medieval town, and it is on the banks of a large and lovely lake. There are a number of things to see, e.g., the castle, the klosterkyrka, the kloster museum, the Martin Skinnare house, the mental health museum, the city museum. There are also a number of interesting shops.
