Very comfortable beds and very clean - friendly team
A small town we stayed overnight only. Had a beer at the local pub and dinner at the excellent Austin92 restaurant in the evening. Close to the larger centre Oamaru which we spent some time in. The quiet environment in our excellent accommodation made for a relaxing stay towards the end of a busy trip. Didn't see much of Temuka but thoroughly enjoyed the bits we did.

We stayed in Temuka because the accommodation was cheaper than in Timaru or Geraldine. It is a central location, but there is not much to do while you are there. We walked the main street and found a small antique shop. There was a popular restaurant. We did not book early enough, so we had to travel to Timaru for dinner.

Temuka's great main village street is typical of small -town NZ with Victorian and Edwardian frontages above street verandas . Temuka began its European life as "Wallingford" , a town surveyed in 1863 by Samuel Hewlings one of the first Eurpeans to settle in this area. Also on the main road into town on HWY One at 199 King Street are two magnificent giant Redwood trees planted in 1886 and still standing tall and strong ...Welcome to Temuka.

We were only staying the one night (Wednesday) on the way to Dunedin as we left Christchurch when husband got home from work. We looked in the shops before we left and bought meat at the butchers. We had several holidays in a cabin at the motor camp back in the 1960's.

Hall on the Terrace has amazing facility's , very friendly host , clean and tidy, great value for money. Allowed me to cook a curry. Great wifi and cellphone coverage.
Fantastic breakfast included in the price. Spa baths and shower in each apartment. Great cooking facilities. Highly recommend.
I was intending on staying overnight in Timaru but the property I had selected turned out to be a dirty disappointment. It was getting late in the day so I back tracked up to Temuka to this exceptional property. Richard is a delightful host, the unit was impeccably clean, well equipped and of generous size. A handy small store directly across the road. Will definitely return.
I was doing research on family/ancestors from the late 1800,s in Temuka, which is why we chose the location which was ideal. Great restaurant only a few minutes away which we recommend. The description of our accommodation was perfect and lived up to its word.cosy, warm and spacious. Hayley was lovely, very helpful and knowledgeable of the area.
There was nothing not to like about the accommodation. The host was very welcoming-felt well looked after-thank-you! The comfort of the space and the thoughtful way it is equipped is really good. Having breakfast provided was an added bonus as way the unique nature of the property-Mum loved the history book on Temuka (her home stomping ground)
Lovely property in keeping with it's history. Plenty of warmth, even heated flooring in the bathroom. Breakfast which was left was very adequate and nicely presented. It was great to read and hear about the history of this magnificent building. Not much to do in Temuka itself but a great stopping pad if you're travelling through.
We were pleasantly surprised by our room! It was very roomy (we had the mobility access unit) and it was so quiet well equiped kitchen full stove awesome shower, air con/heat pump and close enough to town just a little walk. Awesome hosts very helpful will be booking there next stay in Temuka
The Aalton Motel was the cleanest Motel I have ever stayed at. It was comfortable and had a large heat pump that unit warm. Great value for money. Located in Temuka it is just a short drive to Timaru or Geraldine.
Great stay. Arrived early evening and the owner had turned on our heater for us.
Room was very comfy and I would happily stay there again.
Recommend to others looking for a layover in Temuka !
The Hall on the Terrace was a unique experience in Temuka. It was great for our short stay. We liked the history of the Hall on the Terrace and enjoyed the peaceful setting.
Great location and parking right in the centre of Temuka. Very easy to find.
The room had all the basic cooking cutlery and utensils if you want to eat in.
