The accommodation was small, but functional & clean & warm once the heater was turned on. The Ashley Gorge area is familar from childhood & has lots of happy memories. The facilities were up to my expectations, although my wife being foreign, expected more. The lady proprietor went to a lot of trouble to adjust our booking which was initially 2 days longer, and secure a refund although I didn't insist on her doing it. The proprietors made up for booking.com's numerous shortcomings & were good, solid kiwi people. The facilities were well priced.

Very accommodating staff as we checked in late before 8pm from Hororata glow festival when the Ashley Gorge gate was already closed after 6pm, the staff was very nice and accommodating and understanding as had been arranged prior late arrival.

We decided to go to Oxford to stay at the tiny home which is very quirky. Oxford township was only a 5 minute drive away and had a small supermarket and all the basic requirements which a small NZ town has to offer. Also had a petrol station and services a wider farming community.

Oxford is a lovely little town.
Oxford is a lovely little town.
There is much to do in the countryside around (Alps, walks, Ashley Gorge, etc etc).
In the town there is a nice little museum, all well-run.
Lots of other things to do there: observatory for spying the sky, many facilities in and around town.
Great coffee shops, pizza. The diner is a must-do!
The pub (Rustic Hotel) is another must-do. very friendly, great music and atmosphere, good beer too.
That pub is also a popular backpacker stay, as it should be.
I would most highly-recommend Oxford to anyone: (a) As a brief meal stop on the Inland Route; (b) As an overnight stop; (c) A destination for domestic or international visitors; or (d) People from Christchurch wanting a weekend break or simply a day-trip.
The tiny house was very spacious and quirky. Our hostess was friendly and welcoming. The tiny home was very clean and was about a 5 minutes drive to Oxford. The sleeping arrangement was in the attic with a steep ladder to climb so would suit younger couples. You could also sleep quite a few up in the attic. Would be a great novelty to stay there with children.
Oxford is a lovely little town and convenient for Christchurch airport.
Easy check in and parking outside accommodation, which was really spacious, immaculately clean and comfortable.
Superb location in town and really convenient for eateries, Fresh Choice supermarket and shops.
Plenty information in the room about local area.
Oxford Village are fantastic motels.
The hosts Susi and Jan were very friendly and welcoming, and the motel was well appointed, warm, spacious, clean, modern, comfortable, and quiet. It is excellent value for money.
I liked it so much that I came back a fortnight later and stayed another night
Lovely and convenient ocation in Oxford. Best motels we've ever stayed in. Modern, clean, all the comforts considered plus bonus touches like cookie time cookies and plunger coffee upon arrival. It was such a treat before the start of our west coast camping trip. Highly recommend!!!
Perfect - Great South Island hospitality in the time of Covid - Friendly staff, great food, handy walk to other parts of this country town. Comfy Bed, Quiet Back of the Hotel Room and safe off street parking for our rental car.
Loved everything about the Tiny House. Located just outside Oxford town with free roaming hens in the garden looking on the edge of small pine forest. Jeanette is a lovely host, very welcoming and brilliant to chat to.
Everything. It may be compact but it’s cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. Close to Oxford Centre. Lovely to make friends with the chickens too!
