Tranquility, hotel in Owaka

Tranquility is located in Owaka. The air-conditioned holiday home is composed of 1 separate bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave and a fridge, and 1 bathroom.

A fine solution for an overnight stay, but when you say "tiny" that is exactly correct. But Tranquility was certainly tranquil and nicely located. Heating was a slight issue as we found it rather cold overnight whilst we do not like running heating systems unnecessarily when asleep.

    Lovely wee town!

Lovely wee town! Make sure if you see the country store or little boutique stores open, you go and have a look!! My biggest regret is leaving that to our last day as there was so much to see! The park also has a nice picnic area too! Four square staff are lovely!!

Many environmental places nearby to visit.

Many environmental places nearby to visit. Exceptional museum/library that is worthwhile visiting. A few shops but interesting items. Local pub & cafes offer range of food. All highly recommended. Our must visits = Tunnel Hill (Take a torch), McLean Falls (track has a number of steps). Owaka is walking friendly everywhere.

Owaka, Southland, Catlins, a very special and underestimated Paradise where you can find tranquility and inner peace. The Mother Nature makes you feel like you are the only person in this wonderful part of the World. I can't wait to come back here again.....

    Nugget point lighthouse. Cathedral Caves.

Nugget point lighthouse. Cathedral Caves. Mclean Falls , Matai Falls and other Falls in the area. Plenty of nature walks and beautiful beaches, scenery, plenty for the nature lovers to explore. Good small shopping supermarket in Owaka even has small screw on EN517 gas canisters for reasonable price and other camping essentials. Very impressive for a small town. Would definitely recommend a stay in this Catlins area.

Handy 4 square, great wee pub, and I saw a cafe sign or two.

Handy 4 square, great wee pub, and I saw a cafe sign or two. Its a small kiwi town...evening walk along the street I saw one person. Dogs allowed at Thomas's. Lots of people staying there and still it was quiet and querky. A great economic place to base, and then travel each day to other areas...fantastic beaches and coastine. Walks are well signed and all levels of fitness catered for. Dog friendly in places too. Sealions on the beaches, seals in rock pools, and a photographers joy! Weather changeable so take your windbreaker, and comfy walk shoes.

Friendly and efficient information centre with gift shop and museum, IGA, cafes and restaurants. Within easy reach of Catlins attractions. A good place to base yourself when visiting the area. No spectacular views, but more facilities than just ther small centres in the Catlins.
