The house was really cosy. Everything had a homely feel. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was easy to use. Great little space. I would've stayed a few nights more if I had the time :)

Beautifully quiet, blissfully basic hut exactly as described. Warm comfy bed, all kitchen items, clean basic hot shower and toilet just outside. Fab little log burner with logs supplied warmed the cabin beautifully.
Stunningly clear night skys, well worth popping outside to look at the stars of its clear!
Even the train going past was nowhere near so noisy as I had expected.
Perfect minimalist escape.

Awesome options of keeping warm, plenty of blankets, sleeping bags and a fireplace with plenty of firewood and pinecones.
It was clean and there was also plenty of ways to cook dinner, microwave, oven, and airfryer and toaster!
Instructions on getting there and what to expect were very detailed

Pete's Place really is the prettiest little house we have ever seen. The garden is beautiful and lovingly laid out; the interior is surprisingly modern and very tastefully furnished. We were all particularly impressed by the bathroom. The equipment was very good, we had all we needed. Everything is clean and in top condition. In our opinion, Pete's Place is the ideal accommodation for 2-3 people on site.

This place offered me alot more than I expected. The place was really big and had more than enough room for me. The front entrance was quite decieving as it didn't look like much. But when I went to the 1st floor, was quite surprised to see how massive and luxury the place was. The kitchen was too good. The house had everything we need. Would definitely go again if I stay in Arthur's pass.

Iconic historical building in an iconic location. The rooms are furnished period appropriate, the restaurant contains a collection of historical curios. The couple running it is very friendly and approachable. The food is hearty kiwi home style cooking.

Great for Railfans.
Great for Railfans. Trains can be heard close by in the night. Could hear falling water and night birds. Guests have a separate lounge for tea and coffee making. There are a lot of antique and old world features and displays here. All in all, a comfortable place to stay, considering it is in the middle of nowhere. Great Hikes can be had as well.

The hotel is a wonderland of eclectic antiques and collectables. The room #9 was one of the few with an ensuite and well worth the money. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the room was furnished beautifully with antiques - it was fascinating to see the 19th C porcelain in the bathroom. A lovely stay overall and so easy to drive up the range to do the Arthur’s Pass walks.

I loved the character of the place.
I loved the character of the place.
I did not realise that the hotel was IT, but it was worth staying for one night. Also worth doing that trip through Arthurs Pass.
Could only eat at the hotel, quite basic meals. Wish I had tried the Whitebait, but couldn't at the time.
Would recommend for the sheer extraordinariness of the place if that is what you are into.

This was my second time to stay here and I hope to do so again sometime. Loved Gracie, the African grey parrot. The furnishings were delightful; the bed and room were comfy and the location was convenient and yet quiet.
