Interesting art deco architecture.
Interesting art deco architecture. The CBD is very walk-able. Good shops and restaurants; we highly recommend Mister D's bistro. Great central location for exploring the Hawke's Bay wine region.

Attended a concert at McLean Park, Napier is so compact it was an easy enough walk. Great eateries, restaurants and wineries. Also some nice stores although some of them were a bit pricey. So many towns and sights are close to Napier and is appropriate for children and adults of all ages. Warning, you definitely need more than just a couple of days!

Napier is a BIG little town with plenty to see and do and lots of seaside walks and inner cycle pathways to explore. Nicely laid out and good places to eat. The reason why big trucks drive through town centre is baffling as there is a bypass to the port and is noisy and ruins the vibe. The significant gang presence in Napier is concerning, they are everywhere and are rude, aggressive, intimidating and seem to revile in their pathetic existence to annoy others.

We stayed here for the Napier Art Deco festival and the location was perfect with lots of free parking which was a real bonus as the town was very busy and many streets closed for the festival. Wonderful hotel with great staff very helpful and friendly. The room on the 5th floor end of corridor was brilliant with floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides the views were fab - in fact I watched the air display from there and had a closer view than people on the ground! We did not use the restaurant but did have breakfast at the swimming pool cafe opposite which was lovely and the Masonic Hotel which was also great. The location was a few minutes walk from the centre of the town so ideal We would absolutely stay here again but you need to book early for the festival in February - we booked in June the year before!

It's unfortunate that Napier, due to still struggling from the storms last year and the harvest staff requiring lodgings, it is very difficult to get reasonable accomodation. We visited Napier several years ago and absolutely loved it.
This is not to be missed. The rental is a meticulously restored cottage in Art Deco style, with many antiques from the 1930s. You will feel like you are staying in a museum, but everything is available for use. The host Laurie is tremendously gracious and helpful, and he provided a huge bowl of fresh fruit as well as breakfast cereal and other goodies to get us started. The property is a little bit outside of Napier proper; that was not an issue at all because distances are short. Bottom line: stay here; you won't be disappointed.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Units are spacious and comfortable - we had a one bedroom unit that had wall bed in the lounge which was great to free up room.
Lots of family facilities like pool with a slide, spa pool (new !), games room with pool table, table tennis, playstation. To make laundry easier they even have a large clothes line out the back and smaller airing racks.
Very handy to Taradale shops, New World and Anderson Park and 10 minute drive to Napier city.
When we arrived after 4 hour drive we made a tea and coffee in our room then went onto the balcony and relaxed, enjoying the view over the marine parade. An outstanding feature of this very original Art Deco hotel is the large collection of old books and vintage radios set throughout the restaurants and in nooks and crannies. Wonderful old photographs everywhere and nice private "snugs" to sip your wine and chat. Service friendly.
This hotel is very well located to view the sights of Napier and is one of its beautiful art deco buildings. The hotel is full of charm and interesting features and the owners/ staff are completely hands-on - welcoming and helpful. We also had a very pleasant dinner in the restaurant. We were sad to only have one night in Napier but staying at the County Hotel made us feel we’d had a really great experience here.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room had plenty of space, comfortable bed, lovely decor, bright and clean, with a great view of the town and some sea view.
We really appreciated the notes and lovely touches you did to make us feel so welcome, like the welcome book with history of hotel, food in fridge/ counter and sharing things to do in the area.
My stay at Expressotal in Napier, New Zealand was exceptional. As a solo traveler, I appreciated the cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and convenient location. The clean, well-appointed room offered a comfortable retreat after exploring the beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend this hotel for a memorable solo travel experience.
We loved the host whom was extraordinary friendly and polite. A fantastic experience, a truly culture conversation with the host, the location with the view over the city, the breakfast, the luxury room and bathroom made our stay one of the best in Napier region.
Well done 👍 to the host.
These rooms are amazing. Huge bed, spa bath right in the bedroom, and beautiful view of the beach for awesome sunrises. We arrived later than reception was open but they were super accommodating and helped us get in. Every time we come to Napier from now on, we're staying here!
When we checked into the hotel the front of house staff was really friendly and welcoming. I also liked how central the location was, my partner and I walked pretty much everywhere to do what we wanted to do in Napier. The room was a decent size and was clean and comfortable.
We wanted to stay in an Art Deco Hotel and this did not disappoint. The location is brilliant - right across from the Bay, in the centre of town close to cafes, shops etc. The restaurant was good and the pub was pleasant. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.
Very clean, the room size was very comfortable for two of us, the location just a mitres of the hotel and there’s is a lot of parking in the street, we really enjoyed it those few days staying at the quest apartments.
The central location and waterfront views were great, and the art deco architecture was just what we'd wanted for our time in Napier. There were shared clothes washing and kitchen facilities which we appreciated.
We loved the friendly atmosphere in and around the Motel. The facilities for the kids were awesome and the spa was the best. Great clean, comfortable accommodation close to both Napier and Hastings...
The bed was plush and comfortable. The room was nice and spacious. It was the right value for the price paid, although not the kind of price level I was expecting to pay for Napier.!
I like that the location being in the heart of the Napier city where it is accessible to food options. The hotel manager onsite is very friendly and attended to our needs swiftly.
