Omau Settlers Lodge Motel, hotel in Charleston

Set among lush manicured grounds, all rooms at Omau Settlers Lodge Motel boast a private balcony with magnificent sea or mountain views.

We loved our stay at the Omau Settlers Lodge Motel. It was an awesome location being very close to Cape Foulwind Lighthouse, beautiful Tauranga Bay and the Kawatiri Coastal trail. As soon as we arrived we felt at home amongst the beautiful gardens and the homeliness of the motel. We were greeted at Reception with friendly and helpful customer service and a bonus of finding out breakfast was included. We had booked two rooms and both had a lovely outlook at the front and back with sliding doors opening on to decks on both sides. The rooms were well laid out, very clean, cosy and equipped with everything we needed. There was ample parking and the motel had a lovely outlook over the bay. Breakfast was included and consisted of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, tomatoes and toast spreads plus coffee, tea and juice. This was served in a lovely dining room. Overall we loved our stay and highly recommend.

I wanted a cheap overnight stay close to my route, more comfortable than sleeping in the car. This was perfect. Very basic cabin with a bed, table and chairs. Toilet and showers were shared but clean and close. There is a tavern 5 minute walk away for lunch and evening meal. I had breakfast in West port a 30 minute drive away as I was on the road early.

We look forward to seeing the refurbished pub open soon for meal options in Charleston. 20 min to nearest shops and Cafe, restaurants in Westport. Very picturesque. We 4ecommend the Nile walk and checking out the history of the area and a visit to Cape Foulwind and Denniston. The Buller gorge drive is spectacular as well.

Charleston is small -- attractions 30 minutes away include the Blowholes and Pancake Rocks nearby. Gold mine with glowworms is found in Charleston, but we did not visit. Nice picturesque beaches and walks nearby only a half-mile from the Charleston Lodge.

The lodge is small and cosy, not many people, and the very fun and friendly owners! Because there are not many guests, the shared kitchen is super tidy and has all neccessary things. The room itself had small kitchenette, so we were able to make ourselves breakfast. The view from the rooms is also great. And it's close to the Underworld Adventures - the must-do activity in Charleston, so we could wake up and just go and enjoy :)

Charming Charleston: Our host Fiona could not have been friendlier or more helpful. There are two small but gorgeous bays over the road from the lodge and there's a swimming bay within walking distance. The tavern next door provided tasty food & excellent music. Great to have a separate room in a motel unit and we appreciated the outdoor seating area. Comfy beds and very clean. Great value for money.

It is conveniently located when the bike trail is finished from Westport to Charleston. It is almost done, delayed by a farmer who is denying access over his property. It is a beautiful trail and well worth the return ride from Westport. It has a tavern next door with good food and atmosphere.

The location is absolutely superb, set in a lush bush area about halfway between Westport and Charleston. In spite of being "off grid", the place does not scrimp on conveniences like a full kitchen and BBQ. The wood-burning stove was a nice touch during a chilly and rainy evening.
