Spreading for hundreds of kilometres from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.
For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular, are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.
From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.
What a great city! I hope to come back again someday.
What a great city! I hope to come back again someday. Lovely people, lots of great walking areas. Excellent infrastructure for travellers (easy train transport from the airport to downtown); the tram was easy to take as a foreigner. Food was delicious everywhere we went. We were especially impressed with the Comfort Hotel Børsparken.

Oslo is the capital of Norway, but it doesn't feel like a busy city where everyone is in a hurry to go to work or study. There are several local museums to suit all tastes. The presence of several large parks and the option to go to nature by public transport makes Oslo an ideal city trip location for me.

Oslo was very nice- we went in March.
Oslo was very nice- we went in March. I would recommend to go more in the summer as a lot of activities were closed still and we had rainy weather. The city was very quiet, but also very expensive, so it is not a budget-friendly holiday destination!
The saunas were very nice- I would highly recommend. We also went to Well spa, a short bus ride away which was an unforgettable experience.

Such a beautifully clean and safe city.
Such a beautifully clean and safe city. So much history, creativity, design and art is evident throughout this city. I have never felt more safe in a city than I did here. I wish I had more time to enjoy the tourist activities. It is also a foodies haven, so many fabulous options. The city is quite walkable and transit seems like a great alternative. I did not encounter anyone who could not or did not speak English. The people were friendly. The only downfall, it is a very expensive city. The waterfront was my favourite place to spend any leisure time I had. Don't take a taxi from the airport if you can help it, there is a train that goes from the airport right into the central station in Oslo - apparently much faster, cheaper and more convenient. I will know for next time.
There is an excellent breakfast buffet and in a country like Norway where restaurant food is expensive, this was a great feature. As well, we had a twin bedroom which was in a remodeled part of the hostel and had its own shower and toilet for an extra $15. The hostel is on the No. 17 tram from the RR station so, aside from the 5-8min walk to get there, it is actually quite convenient. I must add that Thor and the other desk staff were always very friendly and helpful!
The hotel is very good and modern design. The room is quite big and comfort. The staffs of reception are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is served very good breakfast and lots oof choice. The location is good and just few minutes to walk to metro station. The airport bus is just stop front if door. The 4 stay hotel seems as 5 stars hotel. I am sure I will back to this hotel when I travel to Oslo again.
Luxury hotel! Huge (aka, American sized king) bed with all the pillows and a huge bathroom with separate jacuzzi style tub and walk in shower. We were splurging, and it was worth it. Not to mention the staff was very friendly and the location was great. A close walk to lots of high end restaurants and only a 10-15 minute walk to Oslo city center. If you want to treat yourself, I would definitely recommend.
Excellent location within walking distance of city centre and the sights. Airport train is only 7 minutes walk from the hotel. Stayed on two occasions and both rooms faced into centre of hotel so very quiet at night. These rooms are modern, very basic and small which is ideal for solo traveller for a couple of nights. The beds were comfortable and the shower hot and powerful.
Actually it’s an ordinary hotel with cons snd pros, but sometimes the most important thing is how you feel while you stay at a hotel. We felt very happy during our stay in Thon Hotel. Very cute lobby, amazing staff and special mention to breakfast. You expect this quality only in 5 star hotels maybe. A very charming breakfast room and amazing food with a wide variety
The hotel location is adjacent to the train station and is excellent. This is a short walk to many of the downtown sites and restaurants including the opera. The staff are great and were extremely helpful. The breakfast is one of the better values in Norway with good quality and variety. You can get your fill of smoked salmon here!
Awesome breakfast every morning. Polite & helpful staffs. Property is accessible to the city center via bus or metro. The underground is only a couple steps from the hotel entrance. & direct bus access to most of the “go to” museums. Comfortable bed & my room comes with a view.
Everything was wonderful. Starting at the reception, all the staff was very kind and welcoming. The rooms were clean and had everything you need for a stay. Very good beds, shower, big TV. The best place we've stayed in Norway. Location near the center, a few minutes walk.
Excellent city centre location at a great price, rooms were big enough and all facilities in the room and hotel were very clean. Staff were very friendly and really helpful, good information/maps/guides available too. The Rent Mel restaurant was lovely for breakfast.
It might not be a 5 stars hotel, but you'll receive a 5 stars customer service. Staff at reception were really helpful and nice.
Breakfast is A-MAZING. Honestly, it is brilliant.
Location is also a pro, close to everything.
We had an amazing stay!
Breakfast (variety and abundance)
Location (city center)
Service (room is cleaned everyday and the hotel offers gym, restaurant, lounge, bar, luggage room)
Personnel (kind and hepful)
Room (wifi, quiet those on curtyard, big smart TV and comfy bed)
We liked the the great location of the hotel - central and very quiet. Easy to walk to almost every where in the city (Oslo, Norway) and also easy to find public transportation for longer trips.
Staff was extremely helpful when my debit card didn't work. Breakfast was best I had in Norway. Close to museums and restaurants. Id definitely recommend and stay there again!
Hotel was in the city center very close to the central station walking distance to the tourist spots accessible to the transportation love the variation of buffet breakfast.
Great hotel, everything was perfect.Very polite staff.Metro station is really close and the breakfast was amazing. 5 stars from us we believe it is worth it.
