Stunning island setting with view to Isletas and towards Mount Mombacho on the other side of the island. It felt magical as we were the sole visitors. The room was well appointed and luxurious. A shame our hi-tech shower had no hot water, for this price I expect a high end bathroom experience, the water was cold the mini bar was empty and no tea/coffee making facility. The staff however were friendly.

We love Hotel Real La Merced. It is the only hotel we stay in when we visit Granada. The hotel itself is a beautifully renovated old colonial mansion, and is conveniently located just a couple of blocks away from the Central Park. It is visually stunning. The staff are second to none. They are always going out of their way to ensure that we are comfortable and that we have everything we need.

This is hospitality! Tobi, Gaby and the crew know how to welcome guests and how to make a stay unforgetable. The warmth like being at home and the comfort (incl. tasty breakfast, laundry service and a full fridge) like being in a hotel. A absolute recommendation. And nice add-on: they’ve very cute animals. For us as big animal lovers that was a big pré, but for anybody who’s not a big fan of animals: no worries, because they only ask your attention when you request it. If not, you won’t be bothered by the fact they live there as well.

I have never seen so many rude, contemptuous residents in most of the center city. They make Parisians look like a welcoming committee. They make a habit of fleecing tourists, both our hostel front desk and a food kiosk blatantly charged us more than they were supposed to and we witnessed atrocious behavior toward other tourists. Maybe 5% of the people we interacted with were friendly.
Service was comically bad in the restaurants we visited. They have plenty of tourists, but haven't learned much in the way of hospitality yet. Grocery stores are expensive with poor selections.
Arriving into Managua was not at all bad. And we are finding San Juan del Sur a joy, although this too is fairly pricey bc of all the American and Canadian tourists. Restaurant food was much higher quality and better value, service was great and everyone has been so very friendly.
So, really, all of our bad experiences were in Granada. I have no intention of returning and don't plan to recommend it to anyone. I hope to have a chance to see more of Managua before I leave.

Granada is a bustling city with nice people.
Granada is a bustling city with nice people. We like the fact that we were close to stores, markers, banks, parks etc..
What we did not like, is that there are no street signs, and since we were driving, we got lost a few times. Also, the beach was picturesque but unfortunately it was littered with garbage everywhere. It was very disappointing.

The churches and the restaurants.
The churches and the restaurants. There was a variety of restaurants and very reasonable prices. It was easy and inexpensive to get a cab home after dinner if we did not want to walk back to the hotel.
The friendliness and hospitality of the people was amazing.

It is an old city with a lot of old historic buildings. The infrastructure definitely needs upgrading. I have heard many good things about the beach area but I did not go to the beach. There are some sketchy areas at night time. So we did not leave on foot at night. if anyone had a reason to go to Granada I would definitely recommend the Hotel Jardin De Granada.

Great town, unique colonial history and architecture.
Great town, unique colonial history and architecture. Granada is on the huge lake and many interesting volcanic islands that you can visit. A great city for biking, black market and "ramba" walking/dining area behind the beautiful Cathedral. Warning: city square park is beautiful but very crowded esp w aggressive and nasty taxi drivers. Many language schools and American backpackers. Realtively cheap restaurants.
We had a great stay at Miss Margrits. The rooms and outdoor area are super nice and cozy and invite you to stay. The hotel is in a great location to explore the city of Granada. Breakfast was a hilight for us every morning. The price-performance ratio is incredible. But the best thing about the hotel is Nohelia and her team who are extremely helpful, friendly, warm and caring! So we extended our stay right away! Thank you for everything, we hope we can come back one day!
Casa Cubana is a colonial house in the quietest part of Granada. The rooms are huge and they have everything you need for the best stay. The decor makes you feel like you went back in time, and is all well kept and beautiful. Breakfast is delicious and served in a very delicate manner. Esther runs the place, she will help you with absolutely all your needs. Our best stay in Nicaragua!!
This was a lovely hotel! I booked last minute and I’m glad I did. The room was simple but the AC worked great and there was hot water in the shower! I also liked that there were some toiletries included. The pool is also lovely and there’s lots of different spaces around the property to lounge around. I really liked the location and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!
Exceptionally stylish, beautifully restored and maintained colonial hotel.
Hotel owner and manager, Yves, is the perfect host. Offered helpful advice on the city and region, and arranged specific trips that we wanted to do.
Breakfasts delightful and substantial.
Pool you can properly swim in.
A perfect stay - we have travelled a lot, and don’t say this easily.
My friends and I were in such an awwww! The hotel is beautiful , super clean and well maintained, great vibe! The pool was our place to hang up after going for walks exploring the city. The location is very centric. The hotel is 3 blocks away from “La Calzada” where the night life starts at 10 pm to whatever time you leave!
Real "boutique" hotel with only 4 luxury & comfortable rooms in a very cute garden.
The swimming pool is larger than it appears.
The location is perfect, walking distance from most good restaurants & cultural sites.
Safe parking facilities in a nearby street (for reasonable additional cost).
Very friendly staff
We got a very warm welcome from Gerry, he gave us a lot of advice and helped us with booking our tours. Nice pancake breakfast with fresh fruits. Two pools to get through the hot afternoons in Granada, definitely a must! Thank you Gerry, we will surely stay here again if we come back.
I have traveled a lot and Hotel Jardin is without a doubt one of the best places I've stayed. Miguel and Marcia are superb hosts. They offered terrific recommendations and reservations were made on the spot. We would definitely return to Hotel Jardin on future travels to Granada.
The host Jerry is really really kind and welcoming. One of the best welcome we had during our 14 weeks trip in Central America. The house is also very beautiful in its colonial style. Very well located in the heart of Granada you automatically sensed the vibe of the city.
My favorite thing was the amazing receptionist Noelia who went above and beyond and overall was a wonderful host and demystified everything in Granada for me. The hotel, breakfast and whole experience was amazing too. Soft towels, comfy beds, beautiful building.
Everything! The decor, breakfast, the pool, but most of all Yves's hospitality! He went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time in Granada, not just in his hotel!
I like everything, the place, the owner is very friendly and nice, the management is great, I recommend this hotel to stay, is located close to the historical places in Granada.
Probably the prettiest building in Granada. Super large hotel. Staff it super nice, helpful, and friendly. Lots of tour offerings. Nice pool and hang area. Good to work from.
Perfect location and such a super hotel.
Two swimming pools, great breakfast, room big, bed just great. More you cannot really wish in your vacation...
