Everything went well at Oasis Bacalar, from the moment I booked my room, the staff sent me valuable information about the hotel and a 7day guide with great activities, staff is super helpful , warm and they go beyond expectations with requests for tours and general inquiries, Mario was wonderful , assisting me in all that I needed. Truly enjoyed my stay at the Colibri suite that for one person traveling is just perfect! they take care of all the small details like a tiny hair drier and a coffee/tea maker.

This hotel was a real gem of a find. It's right on the lagoon which is stunning and the rooms and staff are top notch. It's not 5 star but it felt it given the stunning location and how helpful the staff were. Food was also very good, reasonably priced and open all day. Only 150 pesos to get in town and they have a great affiliate who does private boat trips which i'd recommend. Take some mosquito spray and be sure to see the sun rise on the lagoon it was majestically still

The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing.
The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal.
It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal. The tour on the lake takes you to the different cenotes, with time to swing in those colorful waters, it is really beautiful.
We found a nice restaurant called Waah, the food was delicious, all dishes are prepared from scratch. Excellent.
The city is small and peaceful. There is a fort San Felipe to visit.

We enjoyed being able to swim from the hotel dock. We had a car and drove to restaurants. Restaurants were in walkable distance if need be.
You can easily see lake Bacalar in 2 full days. A boat tour of the lake does it all.

Bacalar is a small town, not much to do, the lagoon is beautiful but the tours are expensive and with time the massive turism will damage the lagoon. They don't have the infrastructure to protect nature from garbage and people waste.

Bacalar is wonderful and feel safe and welcoming.
I had love every minutes of my stay.
It s easy to walk around.
The hostel Lahar douwtown has a super friendly vibes and it really made it fun to be in Bacalar.
Casa Poblana exceeded our expectations. It is a quiet and very comfortable place, just a bit outside of the city, away from any noise (rare in Mexico) but just 10 min walk away from the centre of Bacalar. The family managing it were always helpful, kind and a delight to speak with. In the room the beds were comfy and the shower hot and with good pressure. You can also see the lagoon from the terrace. The only thing I would have improved is the kitchen, which was a bit basic but nice to have.
Would be back without question!
This is by far the best place we stayed in Mexico. We nearly stayed longer! The room was gorgeous, well decorated, comfy, spacious, and the hammock outside was amazing. The pool was gorgeous and the location is great - less than 10 mins to the ecological park and to the town centre. The staff were so friendly and helpful - the owner came over to give us recommendations about the town, and they helped us booked an amazing boat tour of the lagoon. Breakfast was nice. We really didn't want to leave!
The receptionist was a young lovely girl, always with a smile and happy to help. Also the kitchen staff was very friendly. Breakfast is not included, there are several breakfast possibilities in the city center, which you can reach by car or taxi. Or you can have breakfast in the hotel, which we did. The food was really nice, maybe a little bit expensive for Mexico, but still okay for West European standards.
Everything. You can chill around the hotel everywhere. They made it lake the lagoon Bacalar with different depths in pools. Very cool. Besides that, they are an eco boutique which means they filter the water and use it again for the plants, they have their own chickens and beehives for honey. Breakfast is super yummy because of this; fresh. Also the location is perfect!
One of those unique and wonderful hotels, where you feel at home immediately, because the owner takes such good care of the place and the guests. Best place so far during our travel in Mexico. Everything was perfect, very well equipped, comfortable and clean rooms, great breakfast, the overall atmosphere and the location. We will definitely come back! :-)
Fantastic old house converted into a hotel. Very nice location, big room with a huge and comfortable bed (not common in Mexico). Super quiet hotel, great to rest and chill in wonderful bacalar. the hotel it's family owned, which is always very nice, and was very clean. 10 minutes walk to the centre of town and 2 great cafes for morning breakfast.
The hotel has a great location and was great to have both AC and a fan.
The man on reception was SO helpful with all our requests and we appreciated his kind manner.
It was great to have filtered water easily accessible at all times. Also great to have a deadbolt on the door which we haven’t found in many places in Mexico.
Hotel Wayak is in a beautiful and very quiet area of the lake. it’s still close to the town of Bacalar.
our family loved relaxing on the lounge chairs, the hammocks on the dock. The girls enjoyed the kayaking and swinging over the water. just a perfect spot. The owners and staff were all absolutely wonderful.
The room was nice, clean and comfortable. It felt like a real hotel room (as opposed to a cheap hostel). The AC was good, there was a big window and the shower got hot. The bikes made the location easy to get to everything and the ecological reserve two blocks down was awesome to swim in the lagoon
I loved this property and overall Bacalar!
great location and amazing staff, hotel had great facilities, high maintenez and great breakfast! Dalia was amazing and super helpful. I highly recommend ordering the outsourced massage services and doing one in the open palapa, great experience!
Amazing place to stay! Also really good food in the restaurant. We ended up eating there everyday and loved it. I would recommend to book a taxi to Kohunlich. The Maya temple is only 1 hour from the hotel and beautiful, with almost no tourists, It was the highlight of our trip to Mexico.
The only good thing about our stay was the private access to the lagoon, which is roughly 10 minutes by bike, or 25 minutes walking. Secondly, the tacos down the street were the absolute best we’ve had in all of Mexico. That was the only good about this stay, unfortunately.
we felt at home right away. This family owned hotel is quite and still in a great location just a two minute walk from the main square of Bacalar. the hotel is located behind an Italian restaurant that makes excellent pizza, we would highly recommend staying here!!
Great hotel, beautiful surrounding, spacious/airy rooms. Bathroom has a window, which is very unusual for Mexico.
Lovely breakfast area, with tasty breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Central location. Would definitely recommend for staying. Very airy roo
Laguna access, relaxed atmosphere, breakfast included, drink vouchers for bar, AC+safe in room, and convenience store next to hotel.
Super friendly reception ladies helping us with restaurants and calling taxis (no uber in Bacalar yet).
The hotel was kind enough to give us a free upgrade. The staff was super friendly. The rooms are probably the most comfy we had in Mexico. Air conditioning was quiet and perfect.
Tasty breakfast served on the covered patio overlooking Laguna Bacalar. Access from the hotel to the laguna. Kayaks and paddle boards free for the guests.
