The beach if fabulous, heard that the sand was import from Perth, Australia. is great, white and fine.
There is a few spots to eat, but not too family oriented, maybe it was because we went off season.
The onsens around the area are ideal to relax and recover energy. Check out the feet onsen over looking Engetsuto Island.

Beautiful beach, awesome landscapes, and great restaurants.
Beautiful beach, awesome landscapes, and great restaurants. Highly recommend visiting the Sandanbeki cliffs, gorgeous views. Also go to Ashiato if you want delicious American style sandwiches. Look for the "American Sando" banners/signs right by the Shirahama Beach bus stop. There is a small aquarium that is nice and a very interesting fertility shrine called "kanki" that you should visit as well. If you come in August you might be able to catch some phenomenal fireworks. The bus is very easy to use, it basically just goes up and down the coast, where most everything you want to see/do is.
There are some theme parks and onsens too but we didn't have time for them, unfortunately.

Shirahama can be reached from Osaka by many accommodations. You can use a direct bus from Namba or you can use JR trains to reach there (whether it's local or rapid). The white sand beach was very much worth considering the location near the city (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Wakayama).

A beautiful beach resort with some great scenery, nice soft sand and clear blue water. Does have some sea weed floating around and watch out for late afternoon when the jelly fish are around in summer time. When there are less people in the sea - it’s time to get out.
There was a fireworks display in the evening with music playing out speakers. Simply amazing to watch from the beach!! It doesn’t happen everyday so plan ahead.
There were market stalls providing food in the evening however unsure if it is a daily or weekend occurrence.
Local bars/eateries had friendly people , staff and locals alike were nice. There is a family mart just off from the beach front. Some bars are open late.
You need to either take a bus from the train station which takes longer but is cheaper or a taxi which is much faster but also more costly- ¥1,500 roughly. It’s too far to walk if you’re staying near the beach and in the summer heat it’s really not recommended.
It’s really nice for families , couples and groups of friends. If you’re a solo traveller and you enjoy your own company you’ll be fine.

The beach was nice, but crowded the fireworks and candle light event on Saturday was worth it. Not as nice as other beaches I have been to around the world. The water is pretty cold to so not great for swimming. Had fun but wouldn't recommend for a solo traveler. No English directions to get there and the bus is kinda confusing. I would not come back without a rental car
If you ever go Shirahama, totally recommend this accommodation managed by a really hospitable hostess.
Very close to the bus stop and beach, modern take on tatami style Japanese room, and with private bathroom. Best part was the Chinese breakfast with seafood porridge.
I managed to get the beach view, and even though my friend couldn't make it, she was able to reduce the price while I kept the same room. Oh, the adorable pandas just added to the cosy ambience.
It's great location,, right next to shirahama beach and bus service. There' are no so many taxi, so next to bus stop is great 👍.
There are also free shuttle buses, but in certain time only.
Onsen is super cool, outdoor Onsen is a one natural .we didn't eat at hotel, but it easy to find nice food just along the street. We wish we could stay longer...
The town is very quiet, many locals come during the weekends
Located on a hill overlooking Shirahama, this hotel has a great view of Shirahama and the Pacific Ocean. Very clean interior and exterior, with spacious public onsen for guests. Breakfast buffet has good selections with sushi and sashimi as options. There is a swimming pool, tennis court and an indoor gym at the hotel and a golf course nearby. You can get to most of the destinations in Shirahama via a 10~15 min drive.
The location is very good. It is quite near the center of Shirahama and the beach. There is a 24-hour supermarket within a short distance from the property. It was very clean. The view of the beach and the ocean was great.
The kitchen with the refrigerator and cooking area was nice. The complimentary sachets of coffee and tea were nice. The bath and the complimentary toiletries were also appreciated.
Room was huge and spacious, and the private onsen was comfortable. The views from the hotel room was also spectacular. Breakfast was great and had a good mix of Japanese and Western food. The staff were all very courteous and helpful, which we really appreciated! It was also right by the beach and our room was private and quiet.
The hotel was very nice with a modern design style. I got to know the staff who was super friendly and helpful, I felt like home. I got a spacious Japanese style room with window view of the sea. Breakfast was great also. There were tons of restaurants and cafes around, with the iconic Shirarahama beach just within 3 mins walk.
蘭 (Ran) is a fantastic option for travellers on a budget who don't mind staying a little further from the center of Shirahama. The facilities were almost brand new and sparkling clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming! Ample, free onsite parking was also nice.
Service at the hotel was impeccable! From organising pick-up and dropping us to various places around Shirahama, the staff tried their best to meet our needs. Kumia-san in particular, was not only conversant in English, but would communicate via whatsapp for needed changes.
It was the perfect stay in Shirahama. The host was really polite and went out of his way to help with any situation. We reached late on a cold night and he was there at the bus stop to see us and help take the luggage in. The location is very convenient generally.
The breakfast and dinner buffet were high quality food. The room was comfortable and many onsen options. The host were attentive, and famous locations were nearby accessible by feet and local bus.
Close to the beach, convenient store, supermarket and restaurants. Very reasonable for renovated rooms while other hotels/inns in the neighborhood are so dated.
