Nice city to visit for a few days. I am actually impressed with the city and would like to come back again to explore more. The attractions it has do attract many tourists coming to visit this city. I strongly recommend this city to visit.

It is a relaxed city.
It is a relaxed city. We loved Senshu koen with it's gardens, ponds and shrines. There is great shopping and cafes around the station area and a cheap tourist loop bus covers most of the city starting from in front of the station. Tourist information at the station was extremely helpful. We took a trip to Sentai Hoshika just outside of the city. It was a little tricky to get to by bus but worth the visit for serenity and beauty. We met some very pleasant people and had some wonderful meals at Osteria restaurant at the Richmond Hotel and Icinotori Bataten

We enjoyed what we saw, the weather was perfect and Senshu Park was beautiful and about 5 minutes walk. We would have liked to go to Aoyagi Samurai house but for the time we had available it was a bridge to far.

Staff at JR Tourist information : amazing and helpful.
Staff at JR Tourist information : amazing and helpful. Recommend a quick trip to Namahage Museum and show and a visit to the living village next door. only need an hour or so. need to take jr to namahage and book shuttle taxi online by 9pm night before...search namahage shuttle. a bit expensive 1000 yen each way plus about 1200 yen for museum and show entry. helps to understand regional culture.also a great day walking around nyuto onsen village.take jr to tazawako, then shuttle no 1 bay to nyuto onsen. can walk between onsen. We also made the effort to arrange the shuttle from alpa komakusa to the famous tsurunoya onsen but was very disappointed and felt it was a waste of time : just stay at nyuto longer is better. ganibi, taenoyu were best.

We were travelling North up Honshu in Spring and caught the best Sakura in Akita. We also fluked a Sakura festival, which was great. We only had one day in the city and would have preferred an extra couple for a better look around.

We went to visit Seitai Hoshikai (Church of Lady Akita) in Yuzawa by bus. The map and information given by the Tourist Information staff at the station was very informative and clear, so we don't have any difficulties at all. There are loop bus also around the city, it is very convenient travelling in Akita city.
I seemed to have pre-booked a smoking room by mistake, but staff cheerfully gave us a non-smoking one, a corner room which was spacious and comfortable - a pleasant place to shelter from the rain which was falling by the 2.00 p.m. check-in. Bathroom was big and bright - which can't always be guaranteed in Japanese hotels - with a powerful shower. Location is central, just ten minutes leisurely walk from the train station, with lots of local restaurants also in the vicinity. Would definitely stay in the Richmond again.
Welcoming host (and his wife) who had many recommendations for onsen and activity to do in Akita and Semboku regions (where we planned to visit). Heavy snowfall during our stay was a real novelty for us being from NZ. Apartment was fully contained, and for us, we could not fault it. About 2.3km flat walk form train station (we don’t mind that). Great stay.
My family and I loved staying here. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There were plenty of parking spaces and it was easy to find by car. This was a good location as it wasn’t too far from Akita station or from the Oga peninsula which was our reason for visiting. ありがとございました!おにぎりわおいしかたです!
the hotel staff was exceptionally kind, courteous and welcoming . very helpful in helping me make arrangements for a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Akita prior to our arrival by checking on the opening day and mass schedule. Appreciate the help wholeheartedly. Many thanks!

Wonderful big room. Much bigger than standard Japanese hotel, also the bathroom!!
I really enjoyed the comfy bed with the soft huge duvet! Coinwashing and drying all for ¥500 was good price.
View from the 14th floor was amazing!! Will definitely stay again.
The room was clean and what I liked the most was the spa in front of the hotel. Furthermore, the spa had a wonderful sushi restaurant. It was so nice to stay fun time with my girlfriend.
