The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel provided luggage carts for us to conveniently move our bags, and clear instructions regarding access to hotel amenities. The breakfast had a good variety of foods and free coffee, all of which were delicious. The property also offers a short hiking trail that lets out to a small waterfall, allowing guests to appreciate a bit of nature during their stay, despite the remoteness of the locale. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
Ideal position right after Skaftafell national park, restaurant close by with good prices. The hotel restaurant was excellent with gourmet cuisine. Other excellent feature was that you can ask to be called on the room phone if there are any Northern Lights! Unfortunately there weren't any while we were there but it was nice to know we wouldn't miss them if there were. Also, small hike from the hotel to a small glacier nearby really recommended. Overall excellent experience, I would recommend this hotel.
It’s the only place near the entrance of the National park, but other reviews said it wasn’t that good….but I was VERY happy there. REALLY great hike right behind the hotel (to a glacier) and super nice staff and happy hour and nice lobby and totally acceptable rooms. Not luxury but totally nice and clean and good.
The other review was wrong.
We were greeted in an absolutely lovely way. The room was clean and had everything one needs. The food in the evening was delicious and exactly what we were looking for- as well as the breakfast in the morning.
THE BEST is the glacier right behind the hotel, just a short walk away. The greatest ending one could have for the end of the day.
Breakfast amazing, back of the hotel is the best place for the northern lights, the staff so happy and friendly! parking ample! rooms well equipped and clean, i loved this hotel so much, the check in was fast, and a stunning location in the middle of no where.
Service was excellent. We were reaching late and the hotel staff asked me if they want me to keep some lunch packs ready as restaurant will get closed by the time we arrive.
Breakfast was decent.
The trail to glacier just behind hotel is amazing !!
Great location - fab walk up to glacier from behind the hotel. Nice room - we were in new block at the back. Friendly staff and good reasonably priced food at the garage over the road which it looks like the hotel owns (from name on credit card slips)
This place has such a friendly staff and who could engage in conversation the area. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast buffet before we left. There’s an awesome hike behind the hotel that is worth the hour walk. Near Svartifoss (waterfall)
Medium-sized, family-run hotel. Friendly staff. Pleasant, clean, functionally furnished rooms. Average breakfast. There is not much accomodation choice in Skaftafell if you want to make a glacier tour from there.
American mom and daughter. Very quiet. Immaculate. Breakfast buffet great. Setting was beyond picturesque. Short hike hotel to see glaciers was unbelievably beautiful.
amazing views from every corner of the hotel, especially the bar! the room was clean, great location (6 min drive from skaftafell), the restaurant was good
