Fly to San Pedro Sula, Honduras (international) or La Ceiba (domestic). From San Pedro Sula, take a 4-hour bus to La Ceiba. From La Ceiba, take a 1-hour ferry to Utila. Alternatively, charter flights from La Ceiba to Utila are available.

Utila, Honduras, primarily relies on foot and bicycle for local transport, with bike rentals widely available. Tuk-tuks, small three-wheeled taxis, are also common for short distances. For longer trips, water taxis operate between the main island and smaller cays. Car hire is limited and unnecessary due to the island's compact size.
The East Harbour area in Utila, Honduras, is ideal for visitors. It's centrally located with easy access to restaurants, shops, and dive centres. Sandy Bay is another popular area, known for its tranquil beaches and snorkelling spots. Both areas offer a range of accommodation options.

Utila was perfect. The people were so friendly and sweet.
Utila was perfect. The people were so friendly and sweet. We felt really safe everywhere we went. The traffic with people walking everywhere was a little stressful, but everyone looked out for each other. The reef and snorkeling were exceptional. God is the master creator of all of the beauty to behold in Utila.

Utila is a great a chill location to spend few days.
Utila is a great a chill location to spend few days. However it is worth more than 2 days only if you are planning to dive for several days as otherwise it could get boring, as there are not many beaches or options. Pristine water, great coral (although not many fish and some of the coral is dead). It is worth a visit!

I went to Neptune beach one day but did not like it too much as the snorkeling was not so good. This private beach, accessible from a private launch boat, became very crowded as the day wore on. However, it did have a surprisingly good restaurant. (Tuna tower)…
There are three very good restaurants here: Mamuth, Mango Tango, and the newly opened Captain Willits.
The shore snorkeling was quite good at Coral View and they had a nice bar at end of pier. You can rent a bicycle at a hardware store just up the street from the main ATM near the ferry dock.

We were on the island about 3 nights which was perfect. Had a vrbo with bikes which was perfect. The town is small and easily seen that way. Definitely big on diving. Great snorkeling near shore, although shallow to get out to it. Loved the chocolate factory. The iced chocolate tea is amazing! Although on-line reviews say this is the island for young backpackers/partiers, we found a quiet home just outside of town and loved it. Yes, there are plenty of bars, but there is quiet to be found as well. We enjoyed good vegetarian food at Ultralight Cafe. Joya is such a great hostess that cooks wonderful middle eastern food. Enjoyed a nice ride then walk up Pumpkin Hill as well. Rented kayaks and explored the canal (very narrow!) as well. Had a great time and would love to go back!

It is a quiet little island when you are out of town.
It is a quiet little island when you are out of town. The landscape varies throughout the island and it is very beautiful. Take lots of bug spray. There are sand flies that are vicious. It's much better to prevent than to try to stop the itching. On that note, benadryl lotion is what works to stop the itching. Pack it in your bags to go with you.
Yes, bugs are miserable, but they are not enough to prevent you from seeing this beautiful bay island.
Because it was the off season we were almost alone at the hotel, and the staff took very good care of us. The attached restaurant has delicious food, and since there was a fridge and coffee maker in our room we could make our own breakfasts. There is also a small store attached to the property so you can buy essentials.
The room is spacious and has an excellent AC, which was much appreciated because it got very warm. And the bathroom is awesome because it has an open-air shower (with a mosquito net) so you get to look up at the trees.
A lovely hotel with a private dock and beach. A beautiful veranda on the upper floor with a wonderful view of the sea. Quick check in, good location right on the main road. The staff were great. Andy in particular was super sweet and helpful. My room was spotlessly clean. I had access to a shared fridge which was great. Across the road is a little restaurant which served THE best omelette I've ever had! I had it for breakfast every single day. I was going to stay 4 nights, I ended up staying 8.
Ana and Chris were the best hosts ! Chris’ family has been on the island for generations so it was nice to get to know the island from a locals POV. Also, they were SO accommodating, helpful, and hospitable. I had a medical problem and Ana went above and beyond to help me fix my issue!
Their house is a cozy, quiet, and a peaceful place for good rest and tranquility. I appreciated all the small details (like handmade soaps!) and the delicious breakfast that Ana made every morning.
The location is great, by a stunning beach, in a more remote part of the island.
This is the only good thing this place have!
The bungalows are also nice, quite big and the bed is super comfy.
The island is full of sandflies so keep in mind during your early morning walk and at the sunset.
The boat service is great, it would be better if longer. (The last one is at 5 pm from the city snd 5.30 from the resort)
Two days- two different breakfasts. Yogurt with granola followed by banana pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. Fruit bowl followed by traditional island breakfast. We expressed an interest in tasting breadfruit and they prepared some for us. Coffee pot available first thing followed by cappuccino or americano. Brekkie room and table setting delightful.
Conveniently located within walking distance of the ferry pier. Friendly staff. Very "homey" feel. Lots of locals drop by and you get a sense that everyone knows each other on this small, very peaceful island. Directly affiliated with Bay Islands College of Diving. Everything you need for a scuba holiday is right here.
Despite it is a bit far from the town center, the location is amazing, one of the best in Utila with the Coral Reef accessible from the hotel. The town is also at a walking distance by the sea. The team is very nice, specially Cecilia and Henry took good care of me and were extremely helpful.
Brilliant woman that's perfect for those wanting to be a little out of the Bay for a proper night's sleep. Her garden boasts a resident Hummingbird family which is reason itself to go. Milady was so helpful and so well travelled that we got countless brilliant recommendations
Location was brilliant, right beside the ferry and the private dock where you can sunbathe was great!! Such beautiful sunsets and a lovely communal area to use the wifi. It's one of the cheapest options on the island and we needed that as we're on a budget.
Perfect location for diving training. Easy walk to town or quieter areas of the island. Restaurant on-site also was very convenient. Beautiful sunsets and a lovely porch to enjoy the views (and a cooling breeze!).
The staff was very friendly and helpful, unfortunately the room pictures and reviews of the hotel left us wondering if we had booked the wrong property. We did like the access to the beach and breakfast.
Everything, especially the Location for Diving Tours and thatcitvisbon walking distance to all the Shops and Restaurants, but not Right in the middle, providing a quiet and restful stay!
