Fabulous breakfast will all local produce, especially the black pudding. I ate at the Park every evening and the food was delicious. The room was large, clean and had a great wet room type shower.

Some of the best place to eat in UK.
Some of the best place to eat in UK. Outdoors is its selling point, if King Charles III has a holiday retreat nearby it must be the best in the World. Winter nights are dark and cold with limited night life.

We used Thurso as a jumping off and landing point for the Orkney islands. I wish we had more time in the Thurso area as I believe there is much more to explore. And don't miss the Sri Lankan restaurant in town!! your dinner may take awhile but that's because it is being cooked up fresh.

Thurso is a town that has seen better days, but most people are going to Thurso to visit John O Groats or to catch a ferry, rather than for the town itself. We stayed out of season so did not visit the beach. We enjoyed our walk to Dunnet Head, and spent our 2nd day visiting John O Groats and Wick. We recommend the Thurso Visitor centre / Museum (free entry, but donatiion requested)

The house is rather dark and drab.
The house is rather dark and drab. The pictures make it look much lighter. It was good for one night. It can be difficult to find somewhere which allows just one night. There was food in the freezer, and sheets in the dryer when we arrived. That was a bit odd. Otherwise, a good location, easy to find. Fine for one night.
It is a fine house, beautifully kitted out for guests, run by nice people. The prices are very reasonable. It is situated in a fine part of the world; a Lightly rolling, lush, green landscape full of locally owned farms. It is a peaceful part of Scotland and provides a fine contrast to the rugged parts of the Highlands with grand views of the Orkney Islands and within a mile or so of the wild beaches of the north coast.
Country house set in grounds with nearby river, falls and associated walks. A cut above most hotels in the this area, with good size rooms decorated in traditional style with modern facilities. Food matches the hotel, with a la carte and tasting menus. Excellent selection of whisky in the bar. Notably good service from a young team. Ideal location for Scrabster ferry (10mins) or exploring the very north of the mainland.
As the hotel name suggests - located in an extremely convenient position straight down the road from Thurso station, and a short walk from the town centre and beach. Clean, spacious and quiet rooms located out the back of the main hotel building, complete with a gorgeous bathroom and a delightful view out of the window. Lightning fast wi-fi was the cherry on top of the cake - thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
This a modern hotel close to the centre of Thurso. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We had a large modern room with a very comfortable bed and a view across the city. It was very quiet at night. The ensuite was a good size and spotlessly clean. There was good wifi and plenty of free parking on-site. The hotel has an excellent restaurant for dinner and breakfast was quick and easy for our early departure.
This is a beautiful house, well decorated and cozy.
- The friendliness and cheerfulness of our host was outstanding
- Big plus was a fridge in our room
- The room was clean, there was enough room to put our bags and sit
- The breakfast was very tasty
- Hotel with a bar and restaurant is literally next door
- High performing central heating
- Close to Thurso and about 15 mins to ferry terminal to Orkneys
Really friendly and lovely manager/staff, lovely big rooms, comfy bed, shower great, tasty breakfast and great ethos of using local. The guest information in the rooms was an interesting read with lots of local knowledge and walks to do. Best place we’ve stayed in Scotland so far. Thanks for a lovely stay.
We spent 10 days in Scotland across the low and the highlands. Westlea B&B was - by far - the best place we have been to. We had a room overlooking the Orkneys. Rich and plentiful breakfast. Beautiful and spacious bedroom. B&B is run by a very warm and welcoming couple. Definitely recommended.
The hotel is just a short hop to the ferry We had a downstairs room that was comfortable and clean and a window that looked out on the street. A bar and a few restaurants are next door. The furnishings are pretty basic, but adequate. I think a bit high priced though.
It was nice to have the whole house after several nights of just rooms. It was nicely furnished, conveniently located ( we walked to explore Thurso and find food), the host was responsive to our needs. My bed was wonderful.
This is an old building/ old hotel, kept in excellent shape by its owners. Given the remote location of Thurso, this hotel is truly a gem.
Would definitely stay here again.
The Staff were super friendly and on the ball
The kitchen/dinning area is awesome and the heat in the rooms.
Plus the garden bit at the back looked magic!
