Clean and straight forward rooms. Historic building and site. Sloping floor in room. Very friendly and helpful at check in - I needed to change my reservation and the lady was very helpful and sorted it without any hassle or judgement. I liked that the rooms did not have TVs, there is a bar with honesty payments, more than ample tea and coffee facilities in the room and you are directed to where you can get more if you run out. There is a beautiful lounge area, which is well lit thanks to the massive window, I wish I could have spent more time here to make use of that space. A perfect place for contemplation or just a bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle.
Great breakfast, cooked and cereal. Eateries in Whalley are just a short walk away.

I visited for a family party, but I have visited the area many times, Clitheroe Castle is great, only 5 miles, Pendle hill with skying slopes, lovely area. Padiham is a former mill town, a little run down but very friendly

Hotel is a few miles from Padiham and is set in great North Lancashire countryside. However Padiham is another Typical NE Lancashire town with good chip shop and one of best football training facilities in the England. Nearby hill country to north is very picturesque.

We don't have a view of Padiham but the countryside around...
We don't have a view of Padiham but the countryside around is beautiful. One of the most enjoyable parts of our stay was that all the staff at the Higher Trapp Hotel were so friendly and most welcoming.
We shall return.
There was nobody there to let us in. No response to email.provided. texted and called mobile number given but no response.
After hanging around for a while I had to go and try to find a hotel for the night instead.
Eventually found somewhere to stay.
Furious. Was travelling with young daughter and to be abandoned like that was beyond unacceptable.
When waiting outside house I noticed that house didn't look 'lived in' at all. Is this just a scam?

The hotel was set in beautiful countryside and close to places we intended to visit. The only downside was there was a wedding on during our stay and selfish guests woke us up at 2.30 in the morning slamming room doors this went on for 2 hours! However the hotel and staff can’t be blamed for this and the following morning were very sympathetic offering to relocate us if the same individuals were staying another night.
We stayed in the lodge this time which was much better than when we stayed two weeks prior in the actual hotel. Larger room, airy with a larger bathroom.
Good breakfast. We didn’t pay for the dogs two weeks previous but wanted to charge this time and when I mentioned the no charge prior they didn’t charge.
Overall it is a great hotel with lovely grounds and lovely staff.
Lovely hotel. Food delicious. More than anything was the staff. They were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. Reception staff so friendly and restaurant staff were the same. Felt like home from home. We had a dog and the annex that we stayed in was spacious. Beautiful gardens too. We are definitely going to visit again. Thank you for a great stay xxxx
Hotel was easy to find. It was a comfy hotel with a nice outlook over the garden and distant hills if you were lucky enough to have a room on that side. We had an enormous family room at the rear. Very quiet hotel. Breakfast was very good and all the staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a comfortable one night stay after a family wedding in the area.
the staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging taxis as we were heading to a wedding. the selection of drinks at the bar were good, and the prices were what is to be expected at a hotel of this standard. the bar staff were very nice, and the view from the window tables was a welcome suprise
The location of the hotel is wonderful, set in beautiful countryside, but not too far from towns.
Rooms are quite large, comfortable and clean (if a little tired).
The breakfast had a large selection and was a mix of buffet and cooked-to-order dishes.
The location and view excellent and access to motorway in about 15 min drive which was handy. Staff greetings friendly. We were pre-warned about an event at hotel and given option to have a room in annexe for a quieter night away from party.
The apartment was cosy and warm (heating worked well). The beds were good. The TV is huge and has Netflix. The corner shop opposite was handy and it's an easy walk into Padiham for the supermark and restaurants. Good shower.
