Oakhill, hotel in Matlock

Where modern heritage meets a warm Derbyshire welcome. Oakhill is a beautiful Grade 2 Listed (Georgian style) house built by the Arkwright family in the mid 19th century, as a private family dwelling....

Lovely period property in beautiful, well maintained gardens. Very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was included. There was a good choice on offer. It was well cooked and efficiently served with a smile. Other staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and warm. Other areas eg the bar and restaurant were beautifully furnished in style to match the house.

Matlock Bath is such a beautiful place , the views, the walks, and a lovely restaurant called The Seafood Cave and Grill. The food here was omg so fresh and tasty! Would definitely recommend this restaurant, not cheap but worth a visit. Some of the other local pubs ran out of food on a Saturday afternoon which baffled us to be honest? Lots of fish and chips available which seem to appeal to motorcycles. The walks are beautiful and the heights of Abraham are well worth a visit.

There are a lot of things to do in the area and lots of lovely countryside to walk in. Wirksworth and Ashbourne and Cromford are great places to visit. Dovedale, Chatsworth and Bakewell are not far away either and Carsington Water is only a 15 minute drive.

Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.

A lovely cottage in a very nice part of Matlock. It was quiet and very comfortable. Felt very homely. Close to the cottage are a couple of bars, a pizza shop (weekends), a corner shop and even a fish and chip shop not too far away. Jo was welcoming, helpful and communicative (Thank you!)

We had the kingside room which had a four poster bed with amazing views of the matlock castle. The bathroom was also very nice and very big with a walk in shower. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and there was a wide range of local ales for sale.

Situated in the middle of Matlock Bath this is a lovely hotel. Our hosts made us very welcome and the COVID-19 measures were really good. I do have to say that the ‘bacon buttie’ along with the ‘porridge’ at breakfast was wonderful 👍😀
