The village has one pub but otherwise does not have a lot to offer. However there are some very good country walks and it is idealy located for getting around Constable country and visiting Colchester and Lavenham.PeterGermany

The hotel staff were all very nice always said hello . We had a lovely lady who served us afternoon tea she was just lovely. Afternoon tea amazing value my friend commented better than the Ritz. Sports bar food again couldn't fault staff again excellent couldn't go out their way to help. We wanted to decide our bill four ways and sorted it out. I especially enjoyed the food and service in the restaurant, it was delicious and the staff were very attentive. Although I only used the pool area, the wider fitness centre looked good. Plenty of good quality comfortable chairs in the Bar area, as well as other quieter areas of the hotel. A bonus if one is reading! The Head Waiter was outstanding, and the Dining Room very well organised and running like clockwork when he was present. Everywhere particularly clean & tidy. Although we weren't able to make much use of them with kids and having commitments in the daytime, the gym looked decent and the pool area had a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Also a big fan of the apple and mango soaps and moisturisers 😂

I found the hotel room to be a little dated and corridors looked a little tired and in need of repair. The breakfast standard did not reflect the price of the stay. It was very basic. I liked the pool area and the back massage I had. Staff were friendly.
