Lovely old-fashioned feel, and the staff were absolutely lovely. The dinner we had was very good indeed and very good for the price. Breakfast also excellent. They were also very happy for my family to pop in for tea and Welsh cakes after we'd been to a funeral. If I'm back in Cardiff again one day I'll definitely stay here.

The Pride of Wales
Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.
As a capitol city, Cardiff was disappointing. There isn't much to see as a visitor (all done in 1 day) and it feels lacking. The city was dirty, pricey, and an enormous amount of panhandlers and clearly drug-influenced individuals asking/demanding money. Would not go back.

Great city break.
Great city break. Lots to do and plenty of entertainment and food outlets. Food at the hotel was excellent so didn't go too far from there this time.
Lots of local bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Castle and park areas only up the road too.

The hotel staff, taxi drivers, local shopkeepers and local people were all friendly and willing to share information about the area. The water bus and bay trips were well worth going on. The Norwegian church and other sights both in Mermaid Quay and Cardiff city and Castle were all worth visiting. We had a really good and interesting time.

I don't have anything good to say.
I don't have anything good to say. Bad experience, rude staff, they were offering a 9 am break fast and they were starting hoovering, cleaning and putting food away around us at 9.15.
They stole £50 from our card because 2 bottle of soap had broken. The self was unstable and they fell
The room was large and comfortable with a great view of Cardiff Bay. The air conditioning was a welcome surprise as it was still quite warm when I was there. The staff was super-friendly and helpful. I loved being able to swim and book a massage at the spa. The breakfasts had a wide range of choices; and lunch and dinner were delicious. I was there at the end of a busy two-week trip and voco Saint David provided the perfect finishing touch.
Great style. Built adjoining a former dock building, the old-meets-new juxtaposition works well. Spacious, bright and well appointed rooms and public areas, kept clean and tidy at all times. Excellent breakfasts. Staff always friendly and keen to help. The hotel is conveniently close to the city centre and station, but also in quite easy walking distance from the bay.
The cleanliness of the hotel and room, the staff were very friendly, our dogs were welcomed, access into the hotel was easy and it was easy to find. It is located about a 15 min walk from the city centre or from Cardiff Bay pubs/restaurants. Breakfast was nice and always ready for 7am. Parking is good but more challenging the later you arrive.
Overall the property is excellent - in a great location with an amazing view. It is well equipped with everything you would need. I would say that it is tremendous value for money and I would definitely stay again. Private Parking space was great as well. Short walk to Cardiff Bay and similar walk to the city centre.
We love this hotel, and it’s history. It’s been brought back to life with care and imagination. Some areas need a bit of TLC but overall it’s beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. The location to Cardiff bay and city centre is great and there’s lots to do in walking distance. Each room has a huge jacuzzi bath.
It's a well-equipped place for self-catering, though one can go out for food there as there are loads of restaurants close. It was clean and spacious. For sightseeing the place is brilliant, with the Senedd and Cardiff Bay being very close, both being places you have to see in Cardiff. Diolch yn fawr iawn!
The hotel is very close to the railway station and the city centre but if there are no events at the stadium the area is pretty quiet. It is a good base to explore the city and you can also walk to Cardiff Bay in half an hour along the river. The room was basic but clean and the staff are very helpful.
Very friendly helpful staff. The room decor maybe a little dated but it was very clean and comfortable. We were booked into the spa at The Mercure just down the road and we were able to leave our car in The Tanes Hotel car park and walk to The Mercure, also not much further to walk to city centre.
More or less everything….easy to get to…very clean and tidy…nice friendly staff.
Good sized rooms, which were also very quiet.
Good location next to Cardiff Bay, and a short distance to Cardiff city centre, less than £5.00 for an Uber.
Great steakhouse just outside the hotel.
A comfortable hotel very near the city centre, a few minutes´ walk from the railway station and Cardiff Castle. The breakfast was delicious and they adjusted the menu according to my individual needs. The dinner was also excellent. The staff was extremely nice!
Lovely little flat in one of the best areas of Cardiff to spend a break. Far enough out of town to be relatively peaceful yet still only a 20/25 min stroll into the city centre. Flat itself is delightful and absolutly perfect for a couple or single.
Fab location if you’re wanting city centre, and few min drive from Cardiff bay. And really good breakfast £15 for 2 parking below hotel was convenient if you can find a space as it’s small. But Still David’s car park is only few minutes away
Clean Bathroom, clean towels.
Fairly clean bed.
Clean microwave, fridge, kettle, mugs, cutlery and plates
Good, clean tea and coffee making facilities. .
Very close to Cardiff city centre and Bute Park
Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
The location is perfect for trip to Cardiff, very walkable distance to the castle and city centre. Very smooth checking in, kettle, tea and coffee available in the room which was nice. We very much enjoyed it for a short stay.
Property was within walking distance from the city centre (about 20 mins walk). Good facilities, very spacious property. Neighbourhood was quiet. If we were to visit Cardiff again, we would book this place.
