Claverton Hotel, hotel in Battle

Set in an Edwardian country house within secluded landscaped gardens, Claverton Hotel is located on a country lane. Breakfasts are freshly cooked to order using local produce.

The staff were really attentive in very difficult circumstances. Only one person was on when we checked in which seemed very strange but otherwise she dealt with us quickly and efficiently. The 'hotel' was clean and the bedroom comfortable with a large ensuite shower room. The views from the room overlooked the beautiful garden area and on a sunny day were absolutely lovely. The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed it very much.

Chequers Inn, hotel in Battle

Set in Battle, 24 km from Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park, Chequers Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

The Chequers is in a great location for visiting Battle. It is within walking distance of The Abbey, the Battlefield, the station and Battle high street. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the pub has lots of traditional features like creaky floors and low ceilings because of the age of the building. All the Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food is delicious.

Neddys rest was very clean, it had everything you needed in there, we loved the fire pit. It was so peaceful, nice to get away from everything. 10 minutes walk to the wine vineyard and 15 minutes walk to the pub which had amazing food. We loved waking up to the animals outside, the view was amazing

Echoes, hotel in Battle

Set in Battle in the East Sussex region, Echoes has a patio. Situated 24 km from Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park, the property offers a garden.

This place is absolutely beautiful. When we first drove into the property, the stunning drive and garden was a gorgeous sight to arrive to. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly and showed us round the downstairs areas. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. TV and WIFI worked perfectly. Kitchen facilities were 10/10. Bathroom was very spacious and again spotlessly clean. Toiletries were provided and lots of towels. And bonus was they provided top quality toilet paper! The living room was beautifully furnished and the rear garden was like being a a tranquil haven of paradise. It was so peaceful and beautiful at Echoes. Our hosts let us have free reign of downstairs and we hardly heard any noise from them upstairs (even their little boy was quiet as a mouse, bless him). The house is only about a mile from Battle town centre. Battle abbey is a lovely place to explore and the town itself has a few antique shops, charity shops, lots of lovely pubs/eating places and several car parks (with charges). I can't find anything negative to say about Echoes. It exceeded our expectation and I would 100% recommend staying here.

Visiting the abbey and the guide was both informative and amusing. Good town with parking and shops and eateries. Easy to get to the coastal areas. We liked Bexhill on sea. We would highly recommend The Black Horse for lunches and dinner with excellent service. About a five minute drive from the town

Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115!

Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115! Don’t miss St Mary’s Church close to the Abbey on the main High Street, worth an visit! Abundance of tourist, okay that’s expected in mid August. Great for walkers and dogs, most places very welcoming with dogs including bowls of water and sometimes dig biscuits! Interesting High Street with a variety of shops and restaurants. Parking at the Abbey was £4.00 for the day which is a plus.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings , swimming pool, it is not heated . Not a problem I really enjoyed swimming in it. You would not be able to walk into the town of Battle , it would be too far. We found the dinner menu far to expensive for us. So we drove to Battle and had fish and chips. The following evening we went into Bexhill. Battle is beautiful but there is not a lot to do there.

Everyone was so friendly. Good choice I’d restaurants would recommend The Sweet Olive and Trinity. Both in the high street, excellent food and service. Even the staff in Battle Abbey went out of their way to chat and give us information.

We stayed there during the annual Hastings reenactment event and had a perfect view on the main entrance of the abbey and very short ways to the battlefield. We were welcomed with a nice and delicious carrot cake in the kitchen and even some fresh milk in the fridge. The apartment was the cleanest one we ever had and the interior is super sweet and cosy. We felt super comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this apartment for everybody who visits the area and we will definitely return next year!

If you are in the area to visit Battle Abbey/ the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, this hotel could not be more convenient. It is right across the street from the front entrance of the site. There are a variety of shops and restaurants within a quarter-mile of the hotel. The hotel sits atop a cute pub, where the included breakfast is served. There are a good variety of breakfast options, including vegan/vegetarian options.

Fantastic property in a beautiful location. Ideally situated to explore the local area and easily accessible to the historic town of Battle. The hosts were really welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The property is extremely well equipped to a really high standard. A bonus is having a hot tub on site to relax in the evening, chilling out. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Location was great. We were attending a wedding at a popular venue in Battle, Amelia Cottage was a 10 min walk away, so very convenient. A better option of a house rather than staying in a hotel as we had a 9 year old child with us. Beds were comfy. On site parking also good. The owner was very approachable and it was nice to meet him on arriving.
