Room was great and quirky to say the least but very nice, bathroom was ok but not on the same level as the room itself.
Food was great and breakfast was plentiful.

This is a nice little west country town on the estuary of the Taw river, with easy access (by car) to surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe bay, and to Exmoor for hiking.
It's easy to get around the town on foot. Bike rental is available for going farther afield.
There are some excellent restaurants, notably Tiffins (Indian).
There is an amusing museum with local information and artifacts .

Although not itself overly picturesque, it has excellent bus services to many places that are - Westward Ho, Ilfracombe, Bideford, Lynmouth and even Minehead! More should be made of these in publicity, don't assume everyone has a car.

I lead other cyclists on the Devon Coast to Coast cycle Trail , & Barnstaple is near the start or finish depending on whether you are going south or north. I normally go to the Hunters Lodge just south of Barnstaple they are excellent but they were full at the time.

Barnstaple is a charming town with a good range of architecture but particularly after dark the town is full of beggars, drunks, drug addicts giving the town a very unsafe and grubby feel. The Police and Council appear to have given up on improving the social environment and this probably impacts on the town’s tourist industry.

I haven't been to Barnstaple for a few years and was a bit disappointed as most of the old shops had gone you could have been anywhere, it's individuality had gone. If you haven't been before it is a lovely old town and has all the facilities that you could want.

The staff were friendly helpful polite and very attentive. Breakfast was amazing and dinner was excellent choices. We ate there for our whole stay. Very reasonable prices too. The pool and the gym were greatwe were lucky with the weather so were able tobe outdoors for most of our stay
The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. They let us in the room way before 3pm and we just chilled and had a pint whilst they cleaned it. Great value for money. We ordered the breakfast and they also let my father in law come for the very cheap breakfast (cooked beautifully and again, great value for money) so that saved him a fortune as his hotel breakfast was very pricey. Wonderful fun pub to enjoy and felt well at home. Thanks for a fantastic trip to Barnstaple! Photo of the nearby Valley of the Rocks - well worth a walk there.
Was extremely surprised at the location and the hotel. Staff were great and the room was huge! Literally a 5 minute drive to Barnstaple and north Devon beaches 20 minutes in other direction. Breakfast was a little disappointing, especially for the price of the room but that could just be my personal preferences. Would recommend and would stay again.
Clean , modern room .
Complementary tea/coffee.. soap / shampoo.
Lovely hosts. And a bargain breakfast.
Great location for town centre / theater , just a couple of minutes walk away
Public Carpark behind with a parking app so easy to top up carparking if needed . Only £13 for 24hrs or free after 6pm until 8am
Over all Well worth the money .
The features and decor of our room was of a very high standard, the pictures do not do it justice.
Just a short walk from Barnstaple town centre

The host was very helpful and when I had a small issue with an appliance he came to see me and sort it personally, just a lovely touch!
