The location was excellent and my reason for booking San Polo. Grumpy staff, no A/C, no fresh air. The window opened but let in all the car fumes and traffic noise. Dreadful breakfast coffee.

An Ancient University Town with Fascinating Culture
In the south-west corner of Castile and Leon, the Spanish city of Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old City is one of the most beautiful Renaissance cities in Europe.
Situated next to the border with Portugal, Salamanca has unique architecture including Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Old Cathedral dates from the 12th-13th centuries and joined together with the 16th-century New Cathedral.
One of the most charming squares in Spain, Plaza Mayor is the heart of Salamanca and an excellent example of Baroque architecture. Enjoy a walk around the exterior terraces, savour an ice cream or relax in one of the picturesque restaurants.
Founded by King Alfonso IX in 1218, the University of Salamanca has more than 3,500 international students and teachers. Known for its Spanish courses for non-native speakers, the university houses a huge library with more than 150,000 invaluable volumes.
Booking.com offers a great variety of hotels, guest houses, hostels and apartments to choose from. Salamanca Airport is 15 km away from the city and is easily accessible by public transport.
Great architecture and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of bars and restaurants.
It would have been very helpful if menus could have been in English for us as many times we didn’t buy because we didn’t know what we were ordering and the translate app wasn’t good enough at times. Made food ordering laborious and way to difficult at times.

Salamanca is a lovely city and definitely worth a visit. We stayed 3 night and were able to see everything we wanted without rushing.
It is a walkable city. We came by train and left by bus. We used the local bus only once, and that was to get to our apartment.
We were there during Easter weekend, so reservations are important. Great restaurants and food.

Salamanca has a very important role in the history of medieval philosophy, being one of the oldest continuously matriculated schools in the world, where Jesuits and Dominican friars debated about the universe and the rights of men, where Cervantes studied, and where inquisitors were honed. Well, a good background reading is a must rather than simply becoming a passive guest of this ancient city (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salamanca).

One of our favourite cities in Spain - magnificent historic centre with a fantastic cathedral and jaw dropping Plaza Mayor. The university student population give the city a buzzy feel and the wide choice of bars and restaurants are generally excellent.
We have stayed here many times en-route to Portugal as it is almost exactly half way for us. The hotel is located 5 minutes off the motorway and is a nice stroll to the city centre on a nice sunny day or 5/6 euros in a taxi if the weather is not so good. Parking is free around the hotel and there is underground parking if you want secure parking. The staff are really good and friendly, the food is good if you decide to eat in.
This hotel is located on one of the most picturesque streets in all of Salamanca. It is surrounded by palaces and churches from the 16th-18th centuries, everything in a warm sandstone. All the main sights were in easy walking distance, and there were abundant restaurants and bars close by. They let me drop my bags so I could explore the city until my train left in the evening. A great little hotel. I hope to stay there again!
The location is perfect, just one minute to the congress center and in the middle of the old city. In the nearby there are many restaurants, coffee shops and nice shops. Nevertheless the street is very quiet.
The breakfast was good, including fresh fruits and natural orange juice.
I will stay in this hotel again whenever I come back to Salamanca.
I've stayed here several times now and I love it. I think it's my favourite hotel. The staff are very solicitous of your well-being and they can tell you all of the best places to visit/eat in Salamanca. My room was very comfortable. You are very close to several of Salamanca's most glorious cultural attractions.
A beautiful hotel and right in the centre of the old town. All of Salamanca's attractions are at the doorstep.
The room was superb and felt luxurious. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were lovely. Sercotel Puerta del la Catedral was the best hotel experience I had during my 3 week holiday in Spain.
Very nice welcome by the host, who spoke good english. The studio was clean, good design and had everything that we needed. The breakfast was the best we had in Spain, good bread, cheese, fruit, good coffee, eggs, tortilla, sweets and ham. near all the interesting things to see. all the staff was extremly nice.
Location, breakfast, comfort, staff, cleanliness. Ms Carmen was very kind and helpful. Few steps away from the Plaza Mayor. Breakfast was served in the room but was pretty good. Health precautious observed better than in other hotels I visited in Spain during this period.
A very comfortable hotel: excellent place to stay the night en route for Portugal or Southern Spain. The staff were very kind and friendly. It was easy to park in front of the hotel in the establishment car-park. The hotel is very easy to access from the motoway.
My place of choice when driving through Spain ! The historical center of Salamanca is just a few minutes away by foot, the area is perfect if you have car, the hotel is simple, they accept dogs and the restaurant/breakfast is really good with super nice service !
The hotel is located a short walk from all the main sites in Salamanca and is easy to access by car. They have on site parking using a car elevator which was very convenient if you have a small car. Room was a good size, comfortable bed and wonderful shower.
A decent hotel in a quiet area across the river and short walk from Salamanca's ancient center, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was basic and beds comfy.
They do accept pets, so my service animal was welcome in all areas of the hotel.
The whole hotel is geared to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Room sizes are huge and very well fitted out. Great views of the cathedral.
Breakfast was superb.
Easy access to central Salamanca - nice walk.
The location in the heart of Salamanca is great. The hotel facilities are first class with all the amenities that you would expect from a top hotel. The building is an extremely old building and very quaint.
Perfect location and really friendly staff. They helped us booking our train tickets back to Madrid and were really attentive, kind and professional. 10/10. Highly recommended! Will come back.
Perfect location
Close to Punta Romana and old town
Comfortable, clean rooms. Excellent toiletries
Lovely staff
Highly recommended as a stopover to southern Spain or Portugal
Easy to book and the apartment was comfortable. They accept 2 dogs per room, really appreciated, as in Spain we are too behind for “pet friendly”. So thank you!
- good location in centre of Salamanca

- nice room and big bathroom
- there is parking in the hotel for certain fees
