The family-run Munchs Badehotel is situated on the beachfront by the Skagerrak Sea. It offers a sauna, hot tub and a traditional Danish restaurant featuring a terrace with sea views.

We didn't take the breakfast options.
The location was great - yellow building restaurant in Hirsthals was terrific.
It was clean.
I was really glad there were staff there to help us check in & out. The online reviews were a bit critical of this in the past, so I think they responded well to make changes.

The location is perfect for waiting for ferry, and getting off ferry. Stayed here twice last year and twice this year.
The staff are always very helpful
Cabins are excellent.

It’s a small harbour town - not a place you would make a special effort to go to as a tourist, but it has a pleasant hotel with a nice terrace, a couple of decent restaurants and shops for essential groceries. If you are in Hirtshals for the ferry, you might like to stop by for a bite to eat or a drink on a terrace. The nearby beaches are beautiful and really worth a visit - especially if you have dogs!

This place was perfect for an overnight stay from coming from the ferry and leaving the next day to travel onwards to our destination a 10 hour drive further to the south-west. We found it especially useful that the bedroom had a window that could open but it was on the side the wind came from so it blew into the room a lot. It would have been nice if the windows on the other side of the room had the possibility to open, too, so we could choose which ones to open, according to the wind direction.
There was a lounge with TV and a big corner sofa and a kitchen with a dining table downstairs.
There was also a cozy little entrance area with a round table to play games and a very comfy hanging chair I loved to sit in. The downstairs bathroom is spacious and clean. On top of the stairs is another toilet which makes it easier for toilet use in the night for the occupants of the upstairs bedrooms. There is also a bedroom on ground level, next to the lounge and kitchen.
We had a meal on the ferry, so we did not need to go out for dinner in the evening but from other visits to Hirtshals I know there are eating places around. Just check for the season because they are not all open the whole year round, especially between Christmas and the New Year you might be stuck because most places are closed at 'romjul'.

I travelled through a part of Hirtshals to the harbour so I didn't see much of it. But my staying in Tornby Guesthouse for two nights made my journey worth while! You can see some photo's of the Tornby Guesthouse.

Small harbour city with around 6000 habitants.
Small harbour city with around 6000 habitants. You can find great local food influenced by the sea. You can try some of it at Hirtshals Fiskehus ApS, just in the harbour. Also the city has the largest oceanarium of the Northern Europe, quite an interesting experience. Don't forget to visit the lighthouse and WW2 bunkers nearby it, lighthouse has an excellent view and bunkers are quite good preserved despite they are abandoned.
Anyway, if you're looking for calm place with great views and nature, bright local vibe, at reasonable prices (for Denmark) that's the palce you should go.
The owner, Poul, was very friendly. He is a retired biologist, and as such can tell you a lot about the plants, herbs and things.
Secret tip. Order dinner and breakfast. It's home style cooking of top restaurant standard. Just about everything comes from his farm or the local fishermen.
The cottage is quite big, so there is loads of space. Dog friendly and lots of garden and farmlands for the dogs to run about in.
Fine, central location, ideal for travellers on the ferry between Denmark and Norway. Comfortable, spacious place with fold-out bed/couch, kitchen, mini-bar, WiFi/TV and bathroom. Supermarket within walking distance (ca. 500 m). Very friendly welcome by the landlord, who will happily show you directions to the city centre, bars, restaurants, etc. Indeed a relaxing place!
Its definitively not a posh or funky place, but with a genuine atmoshpere of hospitality, basic but honestly good. Airy, clean and spacy rooms with now flashy fuzz. You dont need "to feel at home" (if you want this, then better stay at home), you need to feel welcome by open faces without the fake smiling grimacing in 5* up hotels!
As far as I'm aware the only hostel available i Hirtshals - therefore convenient for taking the ferry in the morning. The rooms were basic, and it took a while to understand the check in system, but everything worked out fine. The hostel doesn't seem to be busy even in the peak season - I was alone in my dorm room then.
Location is close to the ferry terminal. Parking spot was available on site. Room had comfortable beds. Friendly staff.
Our ferry delayed quite a bit so we had no chance to reach the hotel on time for the latest check-in. However, even then we got all necessary information + keys waiting for us at the reception.
We didn't take the breakfast options.

Location is Perfect. In front of the coast line with a wonderful view to the sea. Its located in the walking distance to the center and Hirtshals Fyr.
Some of the rooms have balcony with view to the sea and they are very nice. Rooms are very clean.
Breakfast is good.
Staff are amazing.
A warm welcome from the owner. Filled with fellow bikers from around Europe heading for the Hirtshals ferry the next morning. Nice shared kitchen area and free coffee on tap. Supermarket a short walk away. Basic room but clean and comfortable and good value. Nice quiet location.
Very well placed to catch, or after, ferry from Norway to Hirtshals. Would also be a good base if exploring the area. Rooms basic but comfortable, and public areas very well presented in Scandi style. Good relaxed breakfast, friendly staff. Well priced.
From the moment we arrived, our host was very accommodating. He made sure we were comfortable and met every request. The location was perfect for harbor watching. Enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The grilled shrimp kebabs were especially amazing.
The host was very gracious and fully took care of our needs. We needed to overnight close to the ferry in Hirtshals, for an early start, and this guesthouse made everything so easy for us, from parking to overnighting.
This rating is for the newer part of the hotel only. The rooms in the tower are spacious and have modern furniture. The view of the busy harbor is great. The breakfast is good.
Convenient location to catch ferries. There is a bus stop
opposite to take foot passengers for ferry to Faroe Islands. The hotel itself was clean and basic.
It was the perfect place for the night before the next day fishing expedition in Hirtshals. Cozy, convenient with a very nice host. Parking place, Wi-fi etc.
