The room was very large for European standards and the breakfast that was included was very good. We had eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, pastries, juices, and yogurt. The coffee brewed coffee which was excellent.

The place is spotless, this is one of the cleanest rooms I've ever booked (and I've been to much more expensive places than this one).
The bed was comfortable and the room is quite spacious. We also got to feed the deers that were a little shy at first but warm up real quick when you've got food in your hand haha. Location is really good if you want to go to Bruges or Ghent (same distance more or less for both so we did a double city trip :) )

Very easy to collect the keys and enter the rooms. The place is a beautiful group of buildings in the middle of a field - peaceful, quiet, green. The rooms themselves were clean, comfortable, and large. Looking forward to going back in the summer!

Nice and cosy room, not too spacious though. Loved the atmosphere, the proper wood and wooden floorboards. Great hosts, good size breakfast, amazing shower 😄

Aalter isn't much to look at but the main square has a few nice, typical Belgian restaurant/cafés where you can enjoy a nice steak or some mussels along with a Jupiler beer.
It's right next to the main motorway between Calais and Brussels, about halfway between Bruges and Gent so ideal for a stopover.

We were going from Wales to Berlin and needed an overnight stay, somewhere we could get a good sleep and a nice breakfast in the midst of all the driving. About 75 mins from Channel tunnel so one feels one has made inroads on the trek across Europe before stopping for the night. Quiet town, nice restaurant in the square, the train to Bruges (15 mins) offers a chance to see a little bit of the city while passing through.
Our stay at the International House Aalter was fantastic! The breakfast was delicious and themed(Easter). We particularly appreciated the coffee machine and the ability to make tea. The room was extremely clean and well-designed, and the House was quiet and peaceful. The owners are polite and friendly, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the best hotel experiences we've had in a long time, and we left feeling happy and satisfied

Great hotel around 20km far from Brugge. It’s great when you are by motor or car to stay in such a place. Lovely breakfast with all what you need for to start your day. Peaceful area with no noise and the back yard oversees the field with the sheep. There is a daily cleanliness at your room and we could not have asked for a better place in the general area.
Geert and his wife were perfect hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Aalter, it’s a perfect place for exploring Ghent, Brugge and the surrounding area. It’s a quaint place, with comfortable and large rooms and bathroom and a fantastic looking garden. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and we appreciated the opportunity to check-in early.
Small establishment in the country just outside Aalter. Charming couple who could not do enough for you. Well decorated, lovely big bed with quality linen. Honesty bar, nice breakfast if a little pricey. Would certainly recommend and will use next time we are in Aalter.
5The hotel is great for a stop on your way when you're driving somewhere. The room is good, the bed is comfortable, there is a fridge and a kettle, the breakfast has a great variety. There is a big free public parking right in front of the hotel.
Very tasty breakfast and nice rooms. Plenty of room and space for the kids to move around. Good location between Ghent and Bruges if you want to see both cities in one go. Traffic around the hotel was great. Very nice owner.
Strategic position for brouges, near the autoroute, free parking in front of the hotel, clear little rooms seems much more a 3+ star than 4 but raccomended.
