Oyster Cove Chalet, hotel in Kettering

Oyster Cove Chalet offers spacious guest accommodation, situated on 6 acres of lovely bushland and gardens. All rooms feature a private patio, each with barbecue facilities.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Oyster Cove Chalet and wished we could have stayed an extra night. The accommodation was very comfortable and immaculate with many personal touches and a great continental breakfast supplied. Very close to Kettering and surrounds and easy access to Bruny Island Ferry. We enjoyed the local wildlife who came to visit and thoroughly enjoyed the bush setting where the chalets are located. Both Guy and Annie (and ‘family’) were warm and friendly hosts and a pleasure to speak with.

Hopkins Homestead Farm Stay Studio, hotel in Kettering

Boasting mountain views, Hopkins Homestead Farm Stay Studio features accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 32 km from Hobart Convention And Entertainment Centre.

We didn't mind being out of town as we had a car and the view of the hills and sheep roaming was lovely. We loved the birds which visited the garden. It was a lovely setting. A birdbath would be a nice addition. The cottage is cute with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. The wood heater was an added bonus and much appreciated.

Kettering is a small coastal town approximately 60 minutes south of Hobart. The surrounding area is rural and very scenic . We used the ferry at Kettering to go to Bruny Island and spent the day over there

The Bruny Island ferry operates out of Kettering so all visitors to Bruny must pass through Kettering but many do not take time to stay in Kettering which has so much to offer and provides a gateway to the Huon River, Cygnet and various places of interest. The Peppermint Bay Hotel offers great food and outlook acoss the channel while the Oyster Cove hotel is also worth a visit. Many tourists are unaware of Oyster Cove as the last settlement of Tasmania's small indigenous population who had been held at Wybelenna on Flinders Island. Trucaninni and King Billy Lanne were two of the 44 people moved to Oyster Cove around 1847. Trucannin was born on Bruny Island and her ashes were scattered in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel 100 years after her death in 1876.

1 day on Bruny Island is not enough.

1 day on Bruny Island is not enough. Must do the boat tour and drop into the winery for their seafood (brunch of Oysters and mussels. Missed out on the oyster shack (not enough time), but the oysters at the winery were good). Leaving the island at the end of the day - expect to catch the 2nd or 3rd at the end of the day, but there are 2 running every half hour.

Directions on how to find Herons Rise were given by the proprietor. There was good signage to the property in the little town of Kettering too. We were in a building that was on its own on the property…..it was nice to have the privacy The unit was exceptionally clean and well appointed The proprietor was friendly and very helpful. Not only did she provide tips on where to eat she provided links on information for our next destination. The donkeys were very cute and well behaved

A beautiful property - super quiet with native animals visiting in the evening! Friendly hosts who came to say hello on arrival and offered to help with our bags etc. Jonathan came back later to put some wallaby food out and we ate dinner looking out at them having theirs. Very close to the ferry to Bruny Island which was our reason for staying here. (less than 5 mins!)

Jess the host of The Cove Kettering was very accommodating to cater our needs. The room was very spacious and clean with stunning views outside the balcony. We own an electric car and the charger is just right outside our room. We will definitely recommend it if you want a luxurious feeling of home away from home. 100% we will come back 😊

Outstanding property - exquisitely finished and presented. The views of the boats in the harbour were spectacular. A perfect deck to curl up with a cuppa in the sunshine and take in the sights and sounds of Kettering. I'd happily stay here again, it was flawless.

Spacious room, great view of the harbour, heated bathroom floor, great breakfast. We ate at the Opal Cove Tavern both nights as the food, view and service was great, and a short walk home. We walked to the pick up point for our Bruny Island tour.
