The Clarendon Motel Katoomba, hotel in Katoomba

Offering free WiFi and a games room with billiards and table tennis, The Clarendon Motel Katoomba is just a 15-minute walk from Katoomba Train Station.

This is an older establishment conveniently located near the centre of Katoomba. Facilities have seen better days, but everything was clean, quiet and comfortable. Apparently the whole motel complex is scheduled to undergo a comprehensive refurbishment in a few weeks. There is a public bus stop at the motel which can take you to the various attractions such as Echo Point. Overall great value for money.

    Direct train from Sydney.

Direct train from Sydney. Very quaint traditional old mining town, old fashioned 'high street' with plenty of places to stay and eat. We stayed in the grand Carrington Hotel which has a lot of history as part of the evolution of the town. Our main reason for visiting was to easily access the Katoomba based hop-on/off bus to visit The Blue Mountains. This worked perfectly and as well as seeing Katoomba and the blue Mountains, we also got to visit the pretty neighbouring village of Leura which is included in the route. We felt we made a very good choice.

Katoomba has everything you will need or find in a regional town. The large supermarkets are available and open for longer hours for groceries (Aldi, Coles, Woolworths). The shops and restaurants close early, so check times and organise around that. There are limited number of restaurants and eateries in town. We ate at Rustico - this place is almost always full (even on weekdays) - best book ahead. We had one sunny day out of 3 days. Luckily that was enough to visit Scenic World, do the rides and walk around. We recommend taking the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop-on hop-off) to minimise driving. There are many easy to medium walks along the clifftops.

The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent.

The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent. Just right level for me. It would be good if the shuttle buses went to Gordon Falls and Leura as I had to walk back along the roads a lot. Also access to the walk at Scenic World was closed, which was annoying as the walk is advertised to start there. It was Easter Sunday and very busy but this should have been made clear perhaps with signs at Katoomba Falls where the walk actually started from. I ate at 8 Things, great value and the RSL which was not so great. The Pool of Siloam is one of the best things in the mountains I discovered this weekend.

The town is lovely, great places to eat and drink, lots of attractions and view points, short drives to many other places. I really enjoyed it. One thing i would mention, as we were caught out with this, the whole town stops serving food at 8pm, so you do have to choose between watching the sunset and eating.

Too much wrong. Not even close to enough right.

Too much wrong. Not even close to enough right. Broken toilets, fans, lights, terrible seating, lack of outdoor furniture, cleanliness was atrocious, kitchen was filthy, bathrooms were filthy, parking was horrendous. No outdoor seating. Lack of care really by the responses of issues and never got the same person twice when contacting. Garden and outside area unkept, debris, boards with nails, garbage about. All and all....stay away!

Katoomba is a beautiful town with the obvious features of the Three Sisters but if you go for a day trip west towards Lithgow etc you can find quiet waterfalls and swimming holes all to yourself and more stunning views!

Overall, though the furnishings were basic, the room was very clean and comfortable. Very quiet as well as its surrounded by residential houses and at the end of Katoomba St which is further away from commercial area. Only 500m from the 3 Sisters. Great to just walk to the 3 sisters and do some bushwalking/hiking from there and not worry about parking. About 1.1 to 1.3 kms from the Katoomba St restaurants. For toiletries, they provided bars of soap. No shampoo or conditioner, luckily we brought our own. Shower and toilet worked well too.

Beds were comfortable. Aldi Coles and Woolworths across the road. Easy access to major attractions. Staff were friendly . We did not expect to have 5 star hotel accommodation for that price, as long as the place is clean and the beds comfortable and the price is right we are happy .This hotel ticked all the boxes. and the staff were helpful and friendly . I recommend the breakfast its worth it. Thank you for making our stay memorable as we were stuck in NSW from Perth and decided to take a trip to the Blue mountains

Staying at this hotel is like being wrapped in a cozy blanket of luxury, with views that could make even the most seasoned traveler pinch themselves just to check if it's real. The scenery outside the window is so stunning, it's like Mother Nature hired a personal decorator. And let's talk about the rooms - they're so lovely, I half expected them to tuck me in at night and read me a bedtime story. It's like sleeping in a cloud made of marshmallows and dreams.

Based on the photos of the property when I booked it, I was expecting the rooms at the hotel to be older. We were pleasantly surprised at how well maintained the room was. The beds were very comfortable, everything was in good condition, including the bathroom, which looked more modern than I thought it was going to be. Breakfast was simple, with a variety of breads and cereals, coffee, juice or tea. But at least it was good enough to get us up and running.

really close to everything such as opposite train station, 12 min walk to car hire, Katoomba main Street literally around the corner, half four walk to Three sisters and Scenic World (or 10 min by bus)! The room is compact but has everything you need. The hotel is beautiful and was quiet for the two nights we stayed. there was a ceiling fan (very effective), Air conditioning and heater so your well covered for all weather. free parking and excellent wifi

Upon arrival, you’re met with an amazing and friendly customer service experience, which is then overshadowed by the historical nature of the hotel itself. The vintage vibe and “heritage” feel were a breath of fresh air, for someone like myself who is very much used to the hustle and bustle of city life. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who asks, and highly doubt I will look elsewhere when I return to Katoomba.

Location is excellent just in the center of Katoomba and very close to main attractions, cafe, restaurants and shops. The staff was very accommodating, trying to help in any request. The breakfast was very good and the hotel had a heating in every room and all areas. It was not warm outside but inside was very warm. Also very nice shower!
