I stayed in a different room, not across the street from Gilligan's. I had an excellent stay and quiet night.

very sad in need of a facelift , if we had seen the hotel up close before we booked we would have gone elsewhere , a very bad paint job on the outside has left paint running down the walls . room very small , bed was very good , breakfast was very good although could have been hotter . Beautifull pool .

Fitzroy is a very small island that is a day trip for most people. An overnight stay is an opportunity to experience the island and resort after the day trippers have departed, but two nights will exhaust the available restaurant options and three nights would be too many. Note that although the apartments have fully fitted kitchens, the only store on the island stocks NO food items. Smh. Note also that the few walks available will only suit the very fit and able bodied. A big shout-out to Ali who provides kayaks and SUP from the beachfront. These and the glass bottom boat are recommended.

Bring your own snorkelling gear as hiring it for 3 days is equal to buying it. Food is expensive and the general store is really limited. Bring your own cereal/breakfast to help reduce costs.
Staff are fantastic.
If you have young kids, bring beach shoes as the the sand is very rough and mostly broken coral.
The gym is for staff only, which is strange.
Things to do are limited if its raining, bring cards or games to play.

I loved the beaches, loved being able to swim in safe areas and snorkel along over corals and turtles! Nature walks, Foxy's bar vibe, enchanting resort restaurant, great resort swimming pool, and last but not least, always lovely, helpful staff everywhere! Just the place to chill out!! Must take a pair of thongs/flip-flops.

the best part was the pristine water, Roxy Bar, the Summit hike and Lighthouse hike. Water is beautiful, however potential for box jelly-fish and irukandji stings, which can be fatal. Stinger suits are recommended during season. Pool was okay, although not very deep. Games room is okay but couldn't get coin change as wasn't working. Getting some cash from ATM failed one night due to wi-fi dropout. Most things to buy will cost you 3 times mainland cost for similar product. No dancing allowed currently. Try to get a balcony room - top floor best - or a beach bungalow. Not a great deal to do after nine pm. No cable, small TV. Nice though for quite nights on the beach. Take your own food, wine etc, unless money not an issue.

A fantastic location with excellent snorkeling on the great barrier reef right off the beach. Resort facilities are excellent and for us it was the fulfillment of a dream to visit the great barrier reef.

Excellent place for a holiday.
Excellent place for a holiday. Suites all ages with the activities available. We seen 6 black tips feeding on a school of fish which was amazing. The turtle rehabilitations centre was very informative. The pool and facilities were awesome. We would have loved a bit more variety with food. Found it very average.
The island was absolutely magical! The snorkelling was fantastic and great for kids, don’t miss the fish feeding at 11:30am and 3pm on the pier great for the kids!
Lovely walk over to Nudey beach once again great for kids and bring your snorkels there too. We’ve been here to Fitzroy Island for a day trip and now stayed over for two nights this trip. I’d say a full day visit is enough unless you choose to do the longer walks.
Fitzroy Island is a fabulous destination for a couple of nights. So easy and beautiful- only one hour from Cairns. It is very picturesque and relaxing. The welcome bay suite was perfect for us - comfortable, breezy, clean, lovely filtered views to beach and private. The restaurant food was good and the views at sunset were sublime. We loved our stay there.
Everything about this resort and location is stunning. Once you check in, you will have plenty of activities to do and you'll never get bored of this island. We did our first scuba diving from here and it was so stunning. Highly recommend!
loved our stay at Fitzroy Island. Perfect combination of relaxation but plenty to do and see. made the most of the beautiful beaches, snorkelling, restaurant & bar. We will definitely be back again. Rooms were comfortable and quiet.
The room was just your average room in a hotel so it was nice and clean. Food for breakfast was also your average for a meal, dinner was probably the best one the meals we had while we were staying in the island.
We love Fitzroy Island but we would not stop in the back rooms again they were too dark and it was nowhere to sit in the daytime the beds were too hard and they really need to put some toppers on the mattresses
The location and food was great, and it was good to have a couple of options for dinner and drinks.
Would highly recommend a day trip to Fitzroy Island but I wouldn’t recommend staying at the resort.
Getting to Fitzroy Island is part of the adventure and charm - loved the ferry across from Cairns. We saw enough of the island to realise that on its day, it would be a stunning place to be.
we stayed in a bungalow, we loved being away from main resort and direct access to beach. it was sufficient size for us, family of 5. had basic cooking. small fridge and bbq on balcony.
