The couple running the place were very nice and eager to be helpful. The location is near the town’s garden and close enough to walk to dinner. The place was quiet and the kangaroos on the lawn were entertaining.

Dunkeld is full of wild life - watch out for the wallabies and kangaroos and emus, they are everywhere, especially on the roads. Visit for the walks and trails and the incredibly peace of Grampians with out the business of Halls Gap.

This lovely property was very large and provided all facilities. Very suitable for self-catering. The setting is stunning - teemed with birds and other classic Australin wildlife. We spent most of our time just soaking up the location from the patio. A car is necessary for access as the property is a little out of the village. Car also required to access the walks and sights within the nearby National Park. Don't arrive late as we did - by 7.30pm all shops and eateries in Dunkeld were closed and we had to drive to the neighbouring town of Hamilton to find food.

A terrific little town which has been revitalised so well - with lovely amenities (except fresh fruit and vegetables), but good coffee ( the caravans are great for coffee and pizza). Easy to walk around and it has easy access to walks further out of town. The pub of course is excellent as are the restaurants!

We wanted to do several southern Grampian walks. For this Dunkeld is the perfect base.
The town is tiny so plan your evening meals carefully. At the time of our visit the options were basic and very limited.

Dunkeld is beautiful, situated right under Mt Sturgeon and on the main Melbourne road a short distance from Hamilton. Just enough facilities for all you need without the crowds. The town is peaceful, historic and well equipped. Tea at the Royal Mail Hotel was fantastic too!

The Grampians are well worth a trip, be it on the way or by detouring to take in the sites. There are many sites and a few days would be better than one but we were pressed for time. Dunkeld is small and easy to navigate but the town appears to have limited accommodation. That is the reason we chose to visit the area, which did not disappoint. The accommodation was all that was available at the time but it has a lot of character and we found it a delightful place to stay.
What a delight! We really enjoyed and relaxed in this stylish and generous accommodation. The kitchen was well equipped and functional and the lounge area was super comfortable with a great TV and heating/cooling. The beds were amazing, very comfortable with luxurious bed linen. It was really clean and the host was most welcoming, providing lovely touches such as chocolates and fresh milk. The location was fantastic being a five minute stroll to The Royal Mail Hotel.
Serene location. Self contained cottage exceeded our expectations when it came to all the amenities and facilities. Check in was super smooth and quick- everything was all ready for us when we arrived. It was close to restaurants, shops and attractions. Kids also had a nice play area and plenty of sports options and equipment to use any time. Such a hidden gem. So different to usual motel/hotel style accomodation. A must try
I loved staying at Dunkeld House. It is beautifully renovated and furnished with everything needed for a relaxing weekend away. I stayed during winter and the house was warm and cozy. The huge windows look out onto fields and open space. The front of the house overlooks Mt Sturgeon in the distance and it’s stunning. We walked through the adjacent sports field to have dinner at the Royal Mail Hotel.
Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful setting. Loved the cleanliness, log fire, wildlife around the place, peaceful surrounds, easy walk into Dunkeld for groceries, lovely kind owner, beautiful area near wonderful bush walks. Yummy eggs from the resident chickens for brekkie too. Thank you! It was a lovely break from the bustle of city life and in the university break. We hope to come back again soon.
The Dunkeld House is a hidden gem for young families or even a small group of adults. We, including our kids (8yr and 5yr old) had a wonderful time. My mum loved it too... Awesome country location - Home away from home 🏡
Above all, Jackie and Jarrod have been extremely informative and helpful - Thanks to the technology 👍
The Studio didn't work out with a problem between booking.com systems and the provider. However the Royal Mail Hotel staff were absolutely fantastic. They made sure that everything was sorted to exceed our expectations regarding the accommodation, restaurant, meals and service, They really look after all of their guests.
This is a great place for a family or two couples. The two rooms are huge, comfy and beautifully vintage. One room has a sitting room and en-suite. This room also has its own beautiful outdoor area. The other has a separate bathroom and sitting room. The setting is quiet and beautiful. Best place to stay in Dunkeld.
We loved all the breakfast items and the bonus coffee vouchers to use at Dunkeld Old Bakery. We visited the bakery everyday it was open and brought extra items for our lunch. We loved the view and the extra blankets. We have an amazing time, thank you for the lovely stay!
Quiet forest location. Private and peaceful. Good bush walks. Friendly staff with good local tips. Bakery (the old one) in Dunkeld fantastic. Lodge had good water pressure, good kitchen, fair air conditioning (might struggle when real hot) a warm wood heater.
Really pretty location, easily accessing town and wonderful walking tracks in and around town. Fantastic garden both productive and attractive, with a lovely deck out into the garden. We loved that it felt like a home and not a hotel room.
Met by host and made welcome. Facilities very clean and comfortable with seperate sitting/dining room. Very good place to rest from travel and enjoy beautiful Dunkeld. Breakfast available on site at coffee lounge too.
Thanks.
The house is a short walk from the centre of Dunkeld. It had everything that we needed for a one night's stay. The breakfast was simple but delicious with fare provided from the old, local bakery, which was a very nice touch.
the property is located in a quiet street at the edge of Dunkeld. I enjoyed the short walk into town. it was really clean and ideal for a stay with friends.
