The 'Cottage' was delightful!! Spacious and beautifully appointed.
Being able to park our car directly outside was very helpful for us as we were attending a wedding at nearby Avalon Castle so had suit bags, etc., to transfer into the cottage so we could get ready.
Waking up in such a peaceful and picturesque location, with only kookaburras and parrots speaking up, rather than hearing traffic, was lovely.
The very friendly pre-arrival message from the owner relaying info to assist with finding / accessing the property and the Cottage itself, was terrific.

We were so grateful to be able to travel with our (diabetic) dog beyond the Melbourne environs for a wedding locally, and having such a serene and cosy little haven added real character to our weekend away. Gypsy was mesmerised by all the smells of the adjacent grounds, and getting to ‘meet’ one of the horses the next morning was the most beautiful way to end our stay.

Communication from Hosts is excellent and they are so easy to contact and respond immediately. Easy to locate and find. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is there. The setting is beautiful, quiet and enchanting. Outdoors good firewood, fire pit, BBQ, lounge setting, table and chairs and bar and stools are well set up for outdoor dining and relaxing. Indoors all kitchen needs are there, stove top, coffee machine, kettle, plenty storage boxes around bed. Bathroom very roomy, toilet works well and plenty hot water in shower. Best part was being able to bring your own dog and watch him play with Diesel the resident security Labrador. Close to couple towns for last minute supplies.
Set in Gembrook in the Victoria Region, Signal Box Short Stay overlooks the famous Puffing Billy steam train. It offers stunning views over the mountains.

The cottage had everything that we wanted and was in a tranquil but central location. We were able to explore the beautiful surroundings and come back and relax. Our host was friendly and helpful, and provided everything that we hoped for. We are planning to come back.

A beautifully-kept house surrounded by greenery and looking out at tall trees. Silent and peaceful.
Up an unsealed road, my only concern was navigating the entrance to the driveway which had to be approached several times at different angles to actually overcome the steep hump.
Would definitely return. Best experiences were: the fabulous Healesville Animal Sanctuary; the 2 hour, eastern Sherbrooke Forest walk( where we saw 3 Lyre birds up close); the 1000 steps walk.

Ryleigh and the team are brilliant.
Ryleigh and the team are brilliant. The fire was lit before we arrived, making the room warm and toasty. Breakfast supplied, and the unit smelled just like apple pie on entry.
BUT - all that pales in comparison to the location. Amazing.
And less than an hour from Melbourne!
