Rustic Refuge Guesthouse, hotel in Belgrave

Situated in Kalorama, Rustic Refuge Retreat offers 4 private rooms. It is 2.4 km from Olinda. There are 3 deluxe queen rooms which have access to shared bathroom facilities.

The view from this guesthouse was absolutely amazing! The host was so friendly and so were his 3 dogs. The rustic refuge guesthouse was absolutely stunning and beautiful, all from the decor, to the location, the people and we enjoyed everything about it. The host also had all the amenities you would need. In the room there was a microwave and a fridge and we really appreciate the little extras - the cookies and juice and breakfast cereals.

It was the worst accommodation i stayed at and also overpriced. Toilet needs to be repaired. Also did not like the milk and juice put in jugs and not much food. The major put off was the disgusting smell in the small stuffy b&b. I would never book ever again and they go by two different names

    Typical beautiful hilly Dandenong area.

Typical beautiful hilly Dandenong area. Lots of cafes, restaurants, wine bars etc and has a good vibe. Close to other beautiful locations such as Emerald, Sassafras, Olinda etc. You could spend quite a bit of time here. And of course there’s Puffing Billy.

    Nothing.

Nothing. We drove around for over half an hour just to find a car park. We were about to go somewhere else. If Belgrave is meant to be a tourist destination, it's got a lot to learn. Stop relying on Puffing Billy and start building a positive memorable experience. I'm happy to come and work there to show you how it can happen.

a cosy, clean and beautifully presented cottage nestled within minutes of Belgrave’s retail strip. We stayed for a wedding about fifteen minutes away, so it was perfect for what we needed. Margaret was a great host, super friendly and quick to respond if we had any questions about anything. I’d happily recommend this listing for anyone individuals or couples looking for a cosy and private space in the mountains within east access to shops and public transport.

The lovely hosts Margaret and Rob upgraded us to the cottage which was absolutely gorgeous. Facilities were top notch from the great selection of breakfast goodies to the gas heater that made the cottage so warm and comfy. The bed was also very comfy. Awesome Nespresso machine too with great choice of flavours for that early morning caffeine hit. Just a ‘stones throw’ from the centre of Belgrave… 2 minute walk.

Location, walking distance to eateries and bars, easy to takeaway or order delivery or just eat in town. Puffing Billy station Belgrave was also within walking distance. We drove 5 min to the Threstle Bridge and took a video of the passing Puffing Billy, memorable sight. Simple breakfast was provided which was good, with juice, milk, cereals, bread and cookies.

Our two bed unit was very private, clean and comfortable and excellent value for money. Wildwood Lodge was in a great location and a short walk to many restaurants, bars and cafes in Belgrave. The only small suggestion would be the inclusion of a coffee plunger and perhaps some fruit with breakfast. Otherwise a great spot to stay.

Every thing was perfect...large traditional cottage like room, very private with great shower & spa. The cook your own breakfast is fantasic (we took advantage of the supplies & used it for dinner) bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, bread, butter, jam & cheese. Easy walking distance to Puffing Billy & Belgrave township.

The warm welcome from Rob and Margaret, all the little attentions in the room (coffee, tea, yoghurt, bread, waffle, chocolate…), the cute cottage in the middle of the Dandenong, the walking distance from the centre of Belgrave

Excellent location for walking into the main strip in Belgrave. The fire works perfectly for the cold weather making the play very cosy, the room itself is very nice and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
