Pretty little town on the lake, with a couple of excellent restaurants nearby serving local cuisine mostly. Lots to see, lovely walks, hikes and drives. One glaring problem they need to address ASAP. Very nice city with a breathtaking view with a castle on the lake and high hills covered in clouds. The lake is crystal clear, so perfect for swimming, or sailing. There are ferrys that can take you to other parts of the lake. Just an absolutely gorgeous and clean city with very welcoming people. Many art galleries and all sorts of exhibitions. We also reccomend Hotel Zum Goldenen Hirschen in the city centre with a luxury design and very nice staff.

Amazing lake town, with a special sea-lake architecture. Small but charming and the locals are very friendly. The room we were in was large with a good sized walk out terrace. The shower and tub in the room were great, it was liking being at a spa! The staff was always working to keep the facilities in pristine condition. The location was just perfect. Centrally located. Only a few minutes walk from anywhere you’d want to be. I was warmly welcomed at the check-in, the process was easy and smooth and i received all the information i needed. The room was spacious and clean and most importantly very quiet. Breakfast was fantastic, not too big but with great quality and just what i needed. Next visit in Gmunden i will definitely stay in this hotel.

In case you don't speak german, they speak english. There's a private garage for the guests, just enter straight from the main street and ignore the "traffic prohibited" sign (it doesn't apply to the hotel guests).

View from the restaurant was spectacular. The location of the hotel was perfect, it was close to everything. Parking was in the garage just under the hotel (it´s not included in the price but it was worth it).
