The Pilansberg is great for Fauna & Flora. We always have good animal & bird sightings.
The condition of many of the roads is appalling and not comfortable in a normal sedan vehicle.
The Camping facilities at Bakgatla are adequate with good shade but not much grass.
However, the Chalet we used was terrible. R10k for three nights - the Aircon didn't work at all(in 37deg heat),the Stove didn't work. The Tap on the sink was literally falling off.The Fridge wasn't very efficient.
No Shower and the bath was designed for a midget & it was dirty because the surface was badly stained.
One toilet for five people - not good enough for R3k a night.

The staff and service were amazing.
The staff and service were amazing. Always helpful and polite. The manager Karel was also very helpful and went out of his way to please us. He took us on some amazing game drives.
The hotel is old and tired and the rooms are dirty. The mats by the bed were filthy and torn as well as the mat in the bathroom which also needed a clean.
The food was very average and we were also served left overs on one of the days we were there. Unless there is an upgrade to the premises I cannot see us going back anytime soon

Once one we were in the sanctuary of the Black Rhino Lodge, all was fantastic. Getting there and back by road was unpleasant. The surrounding areas are poverty stricken and the roads in a poor state.
Unforunately, there is no longer an airport in the area.

Although the roads aren't in the best shape, it helps one to drive slowly, to enjoy the bush and all it has to offer. The "Friends of Pilansberg" try very hard to maintain the roads. The "Bush" takes care of the rest!!
The accommodation exceeded our expectations.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were tasty and well cared for. Once we had a bbq after arriving from an evening safari: super cozy.
The rooms were spacious and very neat. We enjoyed our safaris with super motivated guide: Alex! Thank you Alex for your enthusiasm and knowledge. During the safari we received a well-maintained snack and drink at the sunset.
We would definitely recommend this stay and it is really worth staying there!
The design, location and privacy of these villas is five star. With a heated pool on the most amazing patio overlooking the Pilansberg we were able to relax in complete privacy, even seeing a hippo in the small dam in front of the unit. We also loved that we could walk within the resort (something not really safe to do in other bush villas) and make use of the resorts lively amenities … the restaurant, tennis courts, gym, boma, game drives ect. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
All staff were friendly, facilities were clean, modern and comfortable. The elephants come right up to the hotel where you can watch them in the watering hole while having breakfast at the dining area or whole having a drink at the bar.
The food was delicious apart from the dessert.
Small kids could not go on the sunrise and sunset game drive however there is a kids game drive at 10am which is lovely. We saw lions, elephants, hippos, giraffe and lots of bucks on the kids game drive.
The staff was largely superb, although not everyone speaks fluent English.
Breakfast is a high point: each day is different, and dietary restrictions are requested and followed (e.g. one can ask for no beef, no pork, etc.)
Some rooms are in separate apartments near the swimming pool.
Bathrooms are large w/ large showers.
Near Pilansberg Park and Sun City.
Extra secure entrance to room w/ locking gate as well as door.
Refrigerator and coffee materials in room. Air conditioning.
Everything was fantastic from the gamedrives to breakfast, lunch and dinners.
The room was beatiful
Poolarea really nice
A very exotic feeling of the whole resort.
Our gamedrive- Ranger Cliffort was totally fantastic and 100% devoted to his job and hobby. 11 out of 10 to him.
We saw lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, giraffes and much more...
4/5 of the Big Five. Not Buffalo
I hope the management of the hotel takes good care of Ciffort as he is something extra
Location is great- directly located at the edge from Pilanesberg National Park.
They had a waterhole close to the pool and we were lucky enough to see 2 rhinos on our first day.
Our safari guide Lou was very friendly and helpful. The game drives (safari) are included in the price (one in the morning the other one in the afternoon).
Roooms were spacious and had a huge bed, with nice view. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything clean.
The rooms are well-appointed and come with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The food is delicious and varied, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend taking a game drive with the hotel's guide, who is knowledgeable, humorous, and goes above and beyond to ensure you see and get great photos of the animals. On our game drive, we were fortunate enough to spot 3 of the Big 5: lions, elephants, and rhinos.
It lacked the polish I would expect for the price paid. On the day we arrived there was not enough food, the waiter service was poor. The rooms were large and the structure was spectacular but it looked empty due to the sparse furnishings. As a South African, this was not a cheap destination and I was hoping for more attention to detail from the staff and rooms. Reception staff were excellent and game drives were a great experience.
The hotel room is quite and clean sitting in the private bushland. Staff there made our stay very welcoming, the Safari guide Freedom is excellent in knowledge and skills sharing with us, and he is a caring person, striving to make our trip well organised in every thing. House keeping team done a good job too.
The staff were amazing, location within Pilansberg, facilities decent and food was lovely (starters and mains). Also unlimited game drives for your entire stay and we had an amazing ranger (Clifford). Great turn down service and complimentary bubbles for our anniversary.
Staff was outstanding. Even got lucky and had a private safari morning ride. Room was insane and luxurious! This place was epic. Here is a video. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpBSuHko1jT/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
This was the best hotel, where we have been so far! Very good Food, very good Service, very nice Game drives… We will come back as soon as we can. It is worth the money.
Desmond our safari guide was OUTSTANDING!!!! The room was just truly top notch as well as the service. Staff went above and beyond to make everything perfect!
