The staff was kind enough to upgrade us due to roof work done during out stay. It was nice and spacious, and right next to the breakfast lounge. I liked how quiet it was, even though it was just two blocks away from center of Carmel by the Sea. It was great!

Very clean with comfortable beds. TV kept losing signal, but righted itself. We arrived late and had to use phone listed on front door of office to check in. They left a cooler with a continental breakfast outside our door, which we did not expect!

The location is great as it's 1 minute walk to the beach.and 5 minutes walk to shops and restaurants around Ocean Avenue. The upper level of the property has partial view of the ocean. Some of the staff (younger staff) were very courteous, hospitable and friendly. Buffet breakfast was delightful and you get to enjoy partial view of the ocean, enhancing the dining experience. The happy hour, complimentary wine adds a nice touch. The property is kept clean with well maintained courtyard, garden and pool. Very relaxing to sit out in the courtyard. We'll come back again.

This is our third time coming to Carmel, and if I win the lotto, I will buy here. It is like nothing else you can experience on the West Coast. There are so many shops, wine tasting, hundreds of wonderful restaurants, and, did I say shopping? We coordinated this trip with a concert at the Sun Set Center. If you can attend a concert there, you will not be let down. It was amazing and within walking distance.

Carmel is a cute, charming seaside town with plenty of shopping and restaurants. Mostly all parking is on-street parallel parking. The Adobe Inn, where we stayed, is located within a block of all the restaurants and shops and even has its own parking garage located below the Inn. At night the town pretty much clears out after 9 or 10, but walking back to the Inn felt safe. The town is also a great base if you are planning on visiting Monterey, 17 Mile Drive, or Big Sur.

The morning and afternoon is the best time to spend it in Carmel. During night time it’s not lit up as you think it would be. But during the day it’s absolutely amazing. All the shops, cafes, restaurants. The walking. Everything is near by. The beach to the town is like 10 min walk. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days

Although a little crowded before Christmas, we loved Carmel.
Although a little crowded before Christmas, we loved Carmel. A lot of good restaurants to eat, not cheap, but a long list of great places. Friendly people. Great beach and other beaches near by. You can visit Monterey, close by.
We had an ocean view king room with fireplace - the view was spectacular and the best part of the room! The hotel is a refurbished older property. The updated rooms are nice and comfortable but nothing special. The bathroom was small but functional. The location is great and walkable to downtown Carmel restaurants and the beach. Be aware that the hotel is up a hill if you are in an ocean view room and may be a difficult walk for people with mobility issues and you will need to drive. The staff is great, very friendly and accommodating.
Carmel Oaks Inn is a very quiet, clean, comfortable hotel. Rooms have everything you need. It is very close to all shopping boutiques end great restaurants. Our room had a balcony with a table and two chairs. When you walk up the stairs to get to the second floor, there is a cozy terrace with tables and chairs where you can sit and enjoy glass of wine or a cup of coffee. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is delivered to your door at no extra cost! Staff is very welcoming.
It was a very pleasure stay.
Hotel Playa Carmel is quintessential California quaint. As we stroll through the town and down to the beach it was obvious there was nowhere else we want to stay in Carmel. The staff was excellent always happy and ready to assist. From beautiful breakfast buffets, coffee/tea service early each am (for east coasters!) to excellent cappuccinos upon request-All included in the hotel cost. Although everything in town is walkable the hotel offers a shuttle service at night for when you want to dress up/drink.
It was very close to town and we really enjoyed that it was an indepentently owned hotel. The room was spacious and there was a little cute courtyard with a table (it seemed it was primarily for use for the rooms directly off the courtyard, but we sat there anyway!). The fireplace warmed the place right up. It also made a big difference traveling as a family to have 1.5 bathrooms in our room. The hotel itself is a great value for the Carmel area. We would stay there again.
A super cute hotel with a nice cosy and warm feeling. The location was fantastic, right in the centre of all the Carmel fun! It is a very safe town and the parking on-site was a great plus. Staff was friendly and chatty! We really loved our stay at Hofsa House and fell in love with Carmel. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic and very kind service. The room was very big. The place is dog friendly. Dog cannot be left alone in the the room, but the breakfast can be taken to the room. Carmel Country Inn is providing a list of dog friendly restaurants. Recommended places were great and we really enjoy that list.
Service and food were exceptional, everything has been recently renovated and is super comfortable. I was able to work remotely from the hotel and enjoy Carmel later in the day, with the beach just 1min away. The hotel is brand new and I can’t recommend it enough!
It was great, bed super comfy, location the best in Carmel apart from the beachfront obviously, staff super helpful and friendly, short walk to the beach and parking was a bonus!
The only negatives were no fridge, AC or clean service on second day of stay.
This is a historic property and the feel of the hotel takes you back in time to early days. A fantastic location in the village of Carmel-by-the-Sea where you can walk everywhere. Boutique shops and incredible dining within steps of the hotel.
Cute but definitely a lot of deferred maintenance. Totally worth staying here if the price is good. The staff is nice. It is not walkable to Carmel by the sea attractions, but it is a good safe place to rest your head.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Gave us a room upgrade with a view (nice) for my birthday. Beds were super comfy. Everything was clean and the decor was pleasing. Carmel by the sea is also super cute!
loved that it was affordable and that is was so convenient to downtown Carmel. walking distance to restaurants, cafes and shops.
I was happy they were so dog friendly! oh and the pillows were nice!
Wonderful location in the heart of Carmel By The Sea. A large and well appointed suite. Comfortable easy chair and sofa in front of the gas fireplace. Comfortable bed. Helpful and friendly staff!
Very central location to the shopping area as well as a number of restaurants. Easy walk to the beach.
Room is big and comfortable. Will stay here again when we next visit Carmen by the sea .
