Bauchops Hill Station Farmstay, hotel in Burkes Pass

Set in Burkes Pass and only 31 km from Mt. Dobson, Bauchops Hill Station Farmstay offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. This farm stay features a garden.

On our first trip to New Zealand and as we live on a small farmstead in the UK, we were very keen to sample a taste of life on a Hill Station. The cottage at Bauchops Hill Station really gave us a feel for life in the spectacular scenery which surrounds it. The landscape is awe inspiring and puts a different perspective on life. Once the log burner in the living area of the cottage was lit, it heated up the whole place. Make sure to take a look at the wonderful night sky during your stay-stars and moon are so bright out there! We had the most memorable Farm Tour with Dion, whose extensive knowledge of the area and farming expertise was shared freely. We will always remember those few hours with him, with gratitude.

Burkes Pass Country Motels, hotel in Burkes Pass

Set within the Burkes Pass gateway to Mackenzie Country, Burkes Pass Country Motels is centrally located for skiing at Mt Dobson and Roundhill and day trips to Mt Cook.

The location was awesome, only a small drive from Tekapo, and also Fairley. Very good value for money. Unit has been renovated and was spotlessly clean. Friendly hosts. I would stay again and would be happy to recommend to others!

Mt Dobson Motel, hotel in Burkes Pass

Conveniently located next to a historical pub and restaurant, Mt Dobson Motel offers self-catering accommodation with unlimited free WiFi.

The motel has a 1960s retro vibe. The fresh flowers in our unit were a welcome sight. The unit has lots of heating and blanket/doona options. The kitchenette facilities were very adequate so we drove 5 mins to Fairlie and bought supplies from the supermarket to cook breakfast. The Silverstream hotel next door to the motel was our dinner choice and the meals were delicious and generous portions.

Grand Suites Lake Tekapo, hotel in Burkes Pass

Grand Suites Lake Tekapo is set in Lake Tekapo. Featuring a terrace, the 4-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom.

We were upgraded to a room overlooking the lake. Breathtaking views! The room was spacious, underfloor heating in the bathroom, and heated towel rails. Bed was comfortable. We stayed just 1 night, but it was memorable - thank you 😊

The Godley Hotel, hotel in Burkes Pass

The Godley Hotel offers country-style accommodation in the alpine village of Lake Tekapo on the South Island. The hotel is centrally located in the village with views of the lake and mountains.

Location was great room was under whelming. Room was nothing like what the website looked like bed was a double and terrible so soft you rolled out of it. Bathroom was disgusting and dated. Rooms were more like a backpackers than a hotel. Only redeeming feature was the 10% of the cafe food which was excellent

Alpine Lodges, hotel in Burkes Pass

Situated in Lake Tekapo in the Canterbury region, Alpine Lodges features a patio. The property has mountain and lake views, and is 46 km from Mt. Dobson.

The two bedroom cabin/lodge we stayed in was beautifully furnished, had a great layout and a good use of space plus we loved the interior styling. It had views over the lake, a cosy wood burner and was walking distance to town but felt more rural. The beds were very comfortable and everything we loved. The kitchen was well equipped. We really appreciated the tasty loaf of bread provided and the little Whittakers chocolates which was a lovely touch.

The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. A restaurant/hotel was located 6 mins up the road and a little general store across road with a bit of history and garden furniture to see.

A friendly country home, animals, family home. welcoming proprietor who could not do enough for us. The only thing that was a pity was the motel is right on a bend and the traffic is quite noisy as it comes around motel - but you cannot do anything about that. We still managed to have a good nights sleep.

I was told they cannot take my (long confirmed) booking for booking.com did not notify them the change. So we, two adults, two children and two dogs, had to drive all the way at night back to Christchurch. We are lucky it's our (original second) last day of our school holiday trip. I think this solution, if we can call this as a solution, is very very unprofessional in operating of accommodation. As comparison, our host in Queenstown did not receive an explicit notification from booking.com either for my change. But they explained to us and provide a real solution by upgrading our room actually.

We didn't get to explore the antique shop across the road! It's situated close to Lake Tekapo and of much better value than the accommodation offered there. For a short drive, I would recommend staying here and driving to the lake.

Good quiet spot to stay when Lake Tekapo is booked out and full of noisy tourists. Cheap, warm and comfortable accommodation at the motel. Road up to Burkes Pass from Geraldine winds around the hills a lot, but pretty safe and scenic in the day time, it's a fun drive for a confident driver. Good road to Lake Tekapo in the dark, only a few trucks on the way back to Burkes Pass around midnight.

Easy to collect keys with lockbox. Host was very responsive. The house is very well maintained, clean and all heaters were working. There's beautiful view outside the house and the house is big. Kitchen was well equipped! One thing to note is that there is no connection at Burkes Pass. We didn't face any issues as we downloaded offline maps. Location was easy to find.

The accommodation was perfect. The kitchenette had everything in it, what we need. The bed was comfy and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The unit was very clean. The location was only a short drive from Lake Tekapo and the nearest restaurant was only a short drive. The Burkes Pass was interesting with the historical artifacts.

The house was beautiful, peaceful and very warm. Great cooking facilities and the most comfortable beds. Staying in Burkes Pass was such a good option. We went for a walk and had dinner in Tekapo, and then saw a stunning sunset as we drove over the high country (about 20minutes) to Burkes Pass.

Country home and vintage style with nature, very nice place. Although far from town but not necesary, you can drive by 20 min to Tekapo. More privacy, not busy area. This place is very suutable for family, not for party. If you find out quiet place, this is a best answer.

When we arrived someone had been in and turned on the heater so it was toasty warm. There was also a log burner which ensured we were always warm. All areas were spacious and new and really well equipped. And Burkes Pass is only a short drive to Tekapo.

Nice family run business and is a short drive to Tekapo. Property is a little rustic but it is excellent value and a very good alternative to the high cost and chaos of staying right in Lake Tekapo. Property manager/owners were most welcoming and kind.

Burkes Pass Motel is small and the location is picturesque, but the rooms are well set up and very comfortable. There was everything we needed to prepare an evening meal and we enjoyed our stay here.
